1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the AVIDEONE PTZ Camera Controller. This device is engineered to provide precise and efficient control over your PTZ cameras, suitable for various applications such as church live streaming, sport competitions, and online meetings. This manual will guide you through the setup, operation, and maintenance of your controller to ensure optimal performance.

2. Key Features

  • Wide Compatibility & Multi-Camera Control: Supports hybrid control across multiple protocols, including IP, RS-422, RS-485, and RS-232. Compatible with VISCA, VISCA-Over-IP, and Pelco P&D. Manages up to 255 IP cameras within a single network.

3. Setup

3.1 Unpacking

Carefully remove the controller and all accessories from the packaging. Verify that all components listed in the 'What's in the Box' section are present.

3.2 Connecting the Controller

The controller supports both Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) and DC 12V power supplies. Choose the appropriate method for your setup.

  • Power Connection: Connect the provided power adapter to the DC 12V IN port on the rear of the controller, or connect an Ethernet cable from a PoE-enabled switch to the IP port for PoE power.
  • Camera Connection:
    • IP Control: Connect the controller to your network via the IP port. Ensure your PTZ cameras are also connected to the same network. The controller can automatically detect available IP cameras and simplify IP address assignment.
    • Serial Control (RS-232, RS-422, RS-485): Use appropriate serial cables to connect the controller to your PTZ cameras via the RS-232 or RS-422/485 ports.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Powering On/Off

Locate the power switch on the rear panel of the controller. Flip the switch to the 'ON' position to power on the device. The LCD display will illuminate, and the controller will initiate its startup sequence. To power off, flip the switch to the 'OFF' position.

4.2 Camera Selection

Use the dedicated camera selection buttons (e.g., CAM 1, CAM 2, CAM 3) or the numeric keypad to select the desired PTZ camera for control. The selected camera's ID will typically be displayed on the LCD screen.

4.3 PTZ Control

  • Joystick: The 4D joystick provides intuitive control over Pan, Tilt, and Zoom (via rotation). Move the joystick in the desired direction to pan (left/right) and tilt (up/down) the camera. Rotate the joystick head to zoom in or out.
  • Zoom Seesaw: For precise zoom control, use the seesaw-style zoom rocker switch. Push 'W' for wide-angle (zoom out) and 'T' for telephoto (zoom in).
  • PTZ Speed: Adjust the PTZ speed using the dedicated rotary dial to control the responsiveness of camera movements.

4.4 Image Parameter Adjustment

The controller allows for quick adjustment of various image parameters:

  • IRIS: Use the IRIS rotary dial to adjust the camera's aperture. Press 'AUTO EXPOSURE' for automatic iris control.
  • WHITE BALANCE (WB): Use the WB rotary dial to adjust white balance. Press 'AUTO WB' for automatic white balance.
  • FOCUS: Use the FOCUS rotary dial to adjust the camera's focus. Press 'NEAR' or 'FAR' for manual fine-tuning, or 'ONE PUSH AF' for auto-focus.
  • Exposure/Shutter Speed/Compensation: Access these settings via the menu or dedicated buttons if available, as per the specific camera model's capabilities.

4.5 Presets and Calls

The controller supports setting and recalling camera presets. Refer to your camera's manual for specific preset configuration. Use the 'PRESET' and 'CALL' buttons on the controller to manage these functions.

5. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your AVIDEONE PTZ Camera Controller, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the controller. For stubborn dirt, slightly dampen the cloth with water. Avoid using harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive cleaners, as they may damage the finish or internal components.
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the controller in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Handling: While the controller features a durable metal housing, avoid dropping or subjecting it to strong impacts, which could damage the internal electronics or the joystick mechanism.
  • Ventilation: Ensure that the ventilation openings (if any) are not blocked to prevent overheating.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your AVIDEONE PTZ Camera Controller, please refer to the following common problems and solutions:
