5. Setup

5.1 Unpacking and Inspection

  1. Carefully remove the battery from its packaging.
  2. Inspect the battery for any visible damage during shipping. If damage is found, contact your supplier immediately.
  3. Verify that all components listed in the packing list are present.

5.2 Connection

The DATOUBOSS 48V 100Ah LiFePO4 battery supports both series and parallel connections for capacity expansion. Ensure all connections are secure and correctly polarized.

  • Parallel Connection: For increasing capacity (Ah) while maintaining the same voltage (V). Connect positive terminals together and negative terminals together. Ensure all batteries are at a similar state of charge before connecting in parallel.
  • Series Connection: For increasing voltage (V). Connect the positive terminal of one battery to the negative terminal of the next. Consult a qualified electrician for series connections to ensure proper balancing and safety.
  • Terminal Type: The battery uses M8 terminals. Ensure appropriate connectors are used.

5.3 Initial Charging

Before first use, it is recommended to fully charge the battery using a compatible LiFePO4 charger. This ensures the battery cells are balanced and ready for optimal performance.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Charging

  • Use a charger specifically designed for 48V LiFePO4 batteries.
  • Ensure the charging voltage and current are within the battery's specifications (refer to Section 4).
  • Charge the battery within the recommended temperature range of 0°C to 45°C (32°F to 113°F). The BMS will prevent charging outside this range.

6.2 Discharging

  • The battery can be discharged continuously up to 100A. Peak discharge current is 500A for less than 3 seconds.
  • Operate the battery within the recommended discharge temperature range of -20°C to 65°C (-4°F to 150°F). The BMS will protect the battery from extreme temperatures.
  • Avoid consistently discharging the battery to its absolute minimum voltage to maximize lifespan, although the BMS provides over-discharge protection.

7. Maintenance

The DATOUBOSS LiFePO4 battery requires minimal maintenance due to its robust design and integrated BMS. However, following these guidelines will ensure optimal performance and longevity:

  • Regular Inspection: Periodically check the battery terminals for corrosion or loose connections. Clean terminals if necessary.
  • Cleaning: Keep the battery casing clean and free of dust and debris. Use a dry cloth for cleaning.
  • Storage: If storing the battery for an extended period, ensure it is charged to approximately 50-70% of its capacity. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Recharge every 3-6 months to prevent deep discharge.
  • Avoid Physical Damage: Protect the battery from impacts and vibrations.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your DATOUBOSS LiFePO4 battery, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Battery not chargingCharger not connected, charger fault, BMS protection triggered (over-temperature, under-temperature, over-voltage)Check charger connection and functionality. Ensure ambient temperature is within charging range. Disconnect and reconnect charger to reset BMS.
No power outputBattery discharged, BMS protection triggered (over-discharge, overcurrent, short circuit), loose connectionsCharge the battery. Check for short circuits or excessive load. Inspect all cable connections. Allow battery to rest if BMS has triggered over-discharge protection.
Reduced capacity or runtimeBattery not fully charged, aging, extreme operating temperaturesEnsure full charge cycles. Verify operating temperatures are within optimal range. If battery is very old, capacity degradation is normal.
Battery is hot during operationExcessive load, poor ventilation, high ambient temperatureReduce load. Ensure adequate airflow around the battery. Operate within recommended temperature limits. The BMS will shut down if temperature limits are exceeded.

If the problem persists after attempting these solutions, please contact DATOUBOSS customer support.
