3. Setup
- Each player takes one Genius Connection grid and one set of double-sided puzzle pieces.
- Place the dice in a central location accessible to both players.
- Select a challenge from the level cards. Each challenge indicates the initial placement of some puzzle pieces on the grid.
- Carefully place the indicated puzzle pieces onto your grid according to the challenge card. Ensure they are correctly oriented.
Note: The game can be played solo by trying to solve challenges against a timer or simply for personal enjoyment.
4. How to Play (Operating Instructions)
The objective is to be the first player to completely fill their Genius Connection grid with their remaining puzzle pieces, leaving no empty spaces.
- Roll the Dice: At the start of each round, one player rolls the white and black dice. The dice indicate coordinates (e.g., A1, B3) on the grid where 'blocker' pieces must be placed.
- Place Blockers: Both players simultaneously place a wooden blocker peg into the corresponding holes on their grids as indicated by the dice roll. These pegs create obstacles that players must work around.
- Fill the Grid: Using your remaining double-sided puzzle pieces, strategically fill all the empty spaces on your grid. Pieces can be rotated and flipped to fit.
- Winning: The first player to successfully fill their entire grid with no empty spaces and using all their remaining pieces shouts "Genius!" and wins the round.
Game Modes & Challenges:
The game includes 120 challenges across various difficulty levels (Starter, Junior, Expert, Master, Wizard). These challenges provide initial setups for the game, guiding players on where to place certain pieces or leaving more open-ended for advanced play. Solutions for all challenges are provided at the back of the challenge booklet.
