Setup Instructions
The Smartlinx SL-S5 is designed for driver-free, plug-and-play setup. Follow these steps to connect your triple display extender:
- Positioning: Place the triple display unit on a stable surface. The integrated back panel and kickstand provide support.
- Laptop Placement: Carefully place your laptop within the central frame of the extender. Ensure it is securely seated.
- Connection Method 1 (USB-C for Video and Power):
- If your laptop's USB-C ports support display functionality (DisplayPort Alternate Mode), connect one USB-C to USB-C cable from each screen extender to a separate USB-C port on your laptop. This provides both video and power.
- Connection Method 2 (HDMI + USB-A for Video and Power):
- If your laptop's USB-C port only supports charging, or if you prefer using HDMI, connect the Mini HDMI to HDMI cable from each screen extender to your laptop's HDMI port.
- Additionally, connect the USB-C to USB-A cable from each screen extender to a USB-A port on your laptop for power.
- Power: The screens require 5V 2A power each. Ensure your laptop or an external power source can provide sufficient power.
- Initial Display Configuration: Once connected, your operating system should detect the new displays. You may need to adjust display settings (e.g., extend, mirror, or split-screen modes) in your system's display preferences.

Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Smartlinx SL-S5, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Cleaning: Use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently wipe the screen surfaces. For stubborn marks, slightly dampen the cloth with water or a screen-safe cleaning solution. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
- Storage: When not in use, fold the unit compactly and store it in the provided carry bag to protect it from dust and scratches.
- Handling: Handle the unit with care. Avoid dropping it or applying excessive force to the screens or hinges.
- Cables: Ensure cables are not bent sharply or tangled, which can cause damage over time.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Smartlinx SL-S5, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
- "No Signal" Message:
- Ensure all cables (USB-C or HDMI + USB-A) are securely connected to both the extender and your laptop.
- Verify that your laptop's USB-C port supports DisplayPort Alternate Mode if using USB-C for video. If not, use the HDMI + USB-A connection method.
- Check your laptop's display settings to ensure the external monitors are detected and configured to "Extend" or "Duplicate" your display.
- One Screen Not Working:
- Check the specific cable connection for that screen. Try re-seating the cable or using a different port on your laptop if available.
- Ensure the screen is receiving power. If using USB-A for power, confirm the USB-A port is functional.
- Flickering or Unstable Display:
- Ensure all connections are secure.
- Try reducing the display resolution or refresh rate in your laptop's display settings.
- Ensure your laptop is providing sufficient power to both screens. An external power adapter might be necessary if your laptop's ports cannot supply enough power.
- Screens Not Rotating Correctly:
- Ensure the screens are properly attached and the hinges are not obstructed.
- Adjust the display orientation in your operating system's display settings.
If these steps do not resolve the issue, please contact Smartlinx customer support for further assistance.
