2. Safety Information

  • Disconnect Power: Always ensure the projector is unplugged from the power outlet before attempting any installation or maintenance.
  • Allow Cooling: Projector lamps operate at high temperatures. Allow the projector to cool down completely (at least 30 minutes) before handling the lamp.
  • Avoid Touching Glass: Do not touch the glass surface of the new lamp with bare hands. Oils from your skin can create hot spots and reduce lamp life. Use gloves or a clean cloth if necessary.
  • Handle with Care: Projector lamps contain mercury and should be handled with care. If a lamp breaks, ventilate the room and clean up broken glass and mercury residue according to local regulations.
  • Proper Disposal: Dispose of old lamps according to local environmental regulations. Do not discard with regular household waste.

3. Setup and Installation

This product is a bare lamp, meaning it does not include the plastic housing. You will need to transfer your existing lamp housing from the old bulb to this new bare bulb. Refer to your projector's specific user manual for detailed instructions on removing and installing the lamp module.

  1. Prepare the Projector: Ensure the projector is powered off and unplugged. Allow it to cool down completely.
  2. Locate Lamp Compartment: Identify the lamp compartment on your BenQ projector. This is typically secured by screws or a latch.
  3. Remove Old Lamp Module: Carefully open the lamp compartment cover. Unscrew any retaining screws holding the lamp module in place. Gently pull out the old lamp module.
  4. Disassemble Old Lamp Module: Once the old lamp module is removed, carefully disassemble it to extract the old bare bulb from its housing. Note how the old bulb is seated and connected.
  5. Install New Bare Lamp: Insert the new Jaspertronics E21.8 bare lamp into your existing lamp housing. Ensure it is seated correctly and all connections (if any) are securely made. Avoid touching the glass bulb directly.
  6. Reassemble Lamp Module: Secure the new bare lamp within the housing.
  7. Insert New Lamp Module: Slide the reassembled lamp module back into the projector's lamp compartment. Secure it with the retaining screws.
  8. Close Compartment: Close the lamp compartment cover and secure it.
  9. Reset Lamp Timer: After installation, plug in and power on your projector. Navigate to the projector's menu and reset the lamp timer. This is crucial for accurate lamp life tracking.

4. Operating Instructions

Once the lamp is installed, the projector can be operated normally. The lamp functions as the light source for your projector.

  • Power On/Off Cycle: Avoid frequent power cycles. Allow the projector to complete its warm-up and cool-down cycles. Interrupting these cycles can shorten lamp life.
  • Cooling Period: After turning off the projector, allow it to cool down completely before unplugging or moving it. The internal fan will continue to run for a period to cool the lamp.
  • Lamp Mode: Some projectors offer different lamp modes (e.g., Normal, Eco). Using Eco mode can extend lamp life, though it may result in a slightly dimmer image.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance helps ensure optimal performance and extends the life of your projector and lamp.

  • Clean Air Filter: Periodically clean or replace the projector's air filter. A clogged filter restricts airflow, leading to overheating and reduced lamp life. Refer to your projector's manual for filter location and cleaning instructions.
  • Ensure Ventilation: Always operate the projector in a well-ventilated area. Do not block the projector's air vents.
  • Clean Projector Lens: Gently clean the projector lens with a soft, lint-free cloth designed for optics.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues after installing your new lamp, consider the following:

  • Lamp Not Turning On:
    • Ensure the lamp module is fully seated and secured in the projector.
    • Check that the lamp compartment cover is closed properly and any safety switches are engaged.
    • Verify the projector is receiving power.
    • Consult your projector's manual for specific error codes related to lamp failure.
  • Dim Image:
    • Confirm the projector is not in an 'Eco' or 'Low Power' lamp mode.
    • Clean the projector lens and air filter.
    • Ensure the lamp timer was reset after installation.
  • Flickering Image:
    • Check for loose connections within the lamp housing or where the lamp module connects to the projector.
    • Ensure the lamp is securely installed in its housing.
  • Projector Overheating:
