1. Introduction

Welcome to the Joie Kava and Rue Travel System. 2. Important Safety Information

Always prioritize safety. Failure to follow these instructions could result in serious injury or death.

• Read all instructions before assembly and use of the product.
• Never leave a child unattended in the stroller or car seat.
• Ensure all locking mechanisms are engaged before placing a child in the product.
• The car seat is designed for infants weighing up to 7.8 lbs. The stroller is suitable for children up to 30 lbs. Do not exceed these weight limits.
• Always use the harness system correctly adjusted to your child.
• Do not use accessories or replacement parts other than those approved by Joie.
• Ensure the car seat is correctly installed in the vehicle using either the LATCH system or the vehicle's seat belt, following the car seat's specific instructions.

4. Setup and Assembly

4.1. Stroller Assembly

1. Unfolding the Stroller: Release the folding latch and lift the handle until the frame locks into place. Ensure both sides are securely locked.
2. Attaching Wheels: Insert the front and rear wheels into their respective slots until they click. Ensure they are firmly attached.
3. Attaching the Stroller Seat: Align the seat with the frame connectors and push down until it clicks into place. The seat can be attached in either parent-facing or world-facing orientation.

4.2. Infant Car Seat and Base Installation

1. Base Installation: The Rue infant car seat base can be installed using either the vehicle's LATCH system or the vehicle's seat belt. Follow the detailed instructions provided in the separate Rue Infant Car Seat manual for proper installation and to ensure the anti-rebound bar is correctly positioned.
2. Attaching Car Seat to Base: Place the Rue infant car seat onto the installed base, ensuring it clicks securely into place. Verify the connection by gently pulling up on the car seat.

4.3. Converting to Travel System

1. Remove Stroller Seat: Press the release buttons on both sides of the stroller seat and lift the seat off the frame.
2. Install Car Seat Adapters: Locate the infant car seat adapters (included) and attach them to the stroller frame until they click securely.
3. Attach Infant Car Seat: Place the Rue infant car seat onto the installed adapters, ensuring it clicks into place. Verify the connection by gently pulling up on the car seat.

4.4. Reversible Stroller Seat

The Kava stroller seat can be easily reversed to face either the parent or the world. To reverse the seat, press the release buttons on both sides of the seat, lift it off the frame, rotate it to the desired direction, and reattach until it clicks securely.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Folding and Unfolding the Stroller

The Kava stroller features a quick, effortless fold that can be performed with the seat attached in either direction. To fold, locate the folding mechanism on the handle or frame (refer to specific diagrams in the included quick-start guide) and follow the steps to collapse the stroller. Ensure it locks into its compact folded position. To unfold, release the latch and lift until the frame locks open.

5.2. Adjusting the Stroller Seat

• Recline Adjustment: The stroller seat offers multiple recline positions. Locate the recline lever or button on the back of the seat and adjust to the desired angle.
• Harness Adjustment: The 5-point harness can be adjusted in height and tension to ensure a snug and secure fit for your child. Refer to the detailed instructions for proper harness adjustment.

5.3. Handlebar Adjustment

The stroller features a height-adjustable handle. Press the buttons on either side of the handle and move it up or down to your preferred height for comfortable pushing.

5.4. Brakes

The Kava stroller is equipped with a one-touch shoe-saver brake system. Press the brake pedal down firmly to engage the brakes. Ensure the stroller is stationary before placing or removing your child. Lift the pedal to release the brakes.

5.5. Canopy and Storage

• Canopy: The full-coverage UPF 50+ and water-repellent canopy can be extended or retracted as needed. It includes an extendable section with extra airflow for ventilation and a peek-a-boo window to check on your child.
• Storage: The stroller includes an extra-large storage basket. A unique feature is the detachable cross-body bag that clips onto the storage basket for convenient access to essentials.

6. Maintenance

6.1. Cleaning Instructions

• Fabric Parts: The stroller seat liner and car seat fabrics are removable and machine-washable. Refer to the care labels for specific washing instructions (typically cold water, gentle cycle, air dry).

6.2. Wheel Maintenance
