5. Setup

5.1 Charging the Battery

  1. Connect the battery charger (UFCLI2001) to a standard power outlet (110-240V~50/60Hz).
  2. Slide the 20V 2.0Ah battery pack (FBLI20011) onto the charger. Ensure it clicks into place.
  3. The charger indicator light will show the charging status. Refer to the charger's manual for specific light indications.
  4. Once fully charged, remove the battery from the charger. Do not overcharge the battery.

5.2 Installing/Removing the Battery Pack

  • To Install: Align the battery pack with the base of the drill handle and slide it in until it clicks securely into place.
  • To Remove: Press the battery release button (usually located on the sides of the battery pack) and slide the battery pack out of the drill.

5.3 Installing/Removing Drill Bits

  1. Ensure the drill is switched off and the battery pack is removed for safety.
  2. Rotate the chuck counter-clockwise to open the chuck jaws.
  3. Insert the desired drill bit or accessory into the chuck, ensuring it is centered.
  4. Rotate the chuck clockwise to tighten the jaws firmly around the bit. Hand-tighten securely.
  5. To Remove: Rotate the chuck counter-clockwise to loosen the jaws and pull the bit out.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Forward/Reverse Rotation

The forward/reverse switch (located above the trigger) controls the direction of rotation. Push it to the left for forward rotation (drilling/driving screws) and to the right for reverse rotation (removing screws).

6.2 Speed Control

  • Variable Speed Trigger: The drill speed is controlled by the pressure applied to the trigger switch. Pressing lightly results in lower speed, while pressing fully increases the speed.
  • 2-Speed Gear Selector: Use the switch on top of the drill to select between two mechanical speed ranges:
    • Position 1 (Low Speed): For high torque applications like driving screws or drilling large holes.
    • Position 2 (High Speed): For faster drilling in softer materials or smaller holes.

6.3 Torque and Mode Selection

The torque adjustment ring allows you to select the desired torque setting or operating mode.

Image: A close-up view of the drill's collar, illustrating the torque adjustment ring with numerical settings and the distinct icon for the impact drilling function, indicating a maximum impact rate of 30000 BPM.

  • Torque Settings (1-22): For driving screws. Select a lower setting for smaller screws or softer materials to prevent over-tightening or stripping. Use higher settings for larger screws or harder materials.
  • Drill Mode (Drill Bit Icon): For general drilling without impact. The clutch is locked, providing maximum torque.
  • Impact Mode (Hammer Icon): For drilling into masonry or concrete. This mode engages the impact mechanism, providing rapid hammering action in addition to rotation.

6.4 Drilling Operations

  • General Drilling: Select the appropriate drill bit and drill mode. Apply steady, even pressure.
  • Drilling into Wood: Use wood drill bits. Start with a pilot hole for larger screws.
  • Drilling into Metal: Use HSS (High-Speed Steel) drill bits. Apply cutting oil to prolong bit life and improve cutting.
  • Impact Drilling (Masonry/Concrete): Select the impact mode and use masonry drill bits. Apply firm, consistent pressure.
