3. Setup Guide

3.1 Initial Setup

1. Charge the Device: Before first use, fully charge the X431 PRO3 V+ Elite tablet using the provided power adapter and USB-C cable.
2. Power On: Press and hold the power button on the tablet until the screen illuminates.
3. Initial Configuration: Follow the on-screen prompts to select your language, connect to a Wi-Fi network, and set up your LAUNCH ID.
4. Connect SmartLink C V2.0: Ensure the SmartLink C V2.0 communication interface is charged or connected to a power source. It will automatically pair with the tablet via Bluetooth.

3.2 Software Updates

Regular software updates are crucial for optimal performance and expanded vehicle coverage. Connect the tablet to a stable Wi-Fi network and navigate to the 'Software Update' section within the main menu. Download and install all available updates. The device includes 2 years of free software updates.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Connecting to a Vehicle

1. Locate the vehicle's OBD-II port (usually under the dashboard).
2. Connect the HD15F to OBDII 16 Connector cable to the SmartLink C V2.0.
3. Plug the OBD-II connector into the vehicle's OBD-II port.
4. Turn the vehicle's ignition to the ON position (engine off).
5. On the X431 PRO3 V+ Elite tablet, select 'Intelligent Diagnose' or 'Local Diagnose' to begin communication with the vehicle. The system will automatically identify the vehicle via Auto VIN.

4.2 Key Diagnostic Functions

The X431 PRO3 V+ Elite offers a wide array of diagnostic and service functions:

4.2.1 J2534 Programming

The SmartLink C V2.0 functions as a J2534 PassThru device, allowing you to perform ECU programming and flashing using OEM diagnostic software. This enables reprogramming of blank ECUs, renewing ECU data, upgrading software versions, and repairing parameter loss. It supports a wide range of vehicle models including Toyota, Honda, VW, BMW, Ford, GM, Chrysler, and Mercedes-Benz.

4.2.2 Topology Mapping

The intuitive topology mapping feature provides a comprehensive visual representation of all vehicle systems and their communication status. It displays control units, system numbers, and scan results in different colors, simplifying the diagnostic process and helping to quickly identify DTCs and their relationships within the vehicle's network.

4.2.3 Bi-Directional Control / Active Tests

Perform active tests to send commands from the scanner to vehicle actuators (e.g., air conditioning clutches, windows, doors, mirrors, fuel pump, ABS pump, injectors). This allows for quick testing of component integrity and functionality, aiding in rapid problem identification.

4.2.4 60+ Service Functions

The tool provides access to over 60 common maintenance and reset functions, including:

4.2.5 CANFD/DoIP Support

The X431 PRO3 V+ Elite supports advanced communication protocols like CANFD and DoIP, ensuring compatibility with newer vehicle models from brands such as Land Rover, Jaguar, BMW (F/G chassis), and GM, providing faster and more stable data communication.

4.2.6 FCA SGW Access (AutoAuth)

The tool provides full access to FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) Secure Gateway (SGW) modules for 2018+ Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, and Jeep vehicles. This requires registering an AutoAuth account and linking your device to perform diagnostics on these vehicles.

4.2.7 Live Data Stream

View real-time vehicle data parameters in text, graph, or gauge format. The 12-in-1 data graphing feature allows simultaneous display of multiple PIDs (Parameter IDs) for comprehensive analysis, such as engine RPM, vehicle speed, air flow, engine load, fuel pressure, and battery voltage.

4.2.8 Heavy Duty Truck Diagnostics

The X431 PRO3 V+ Elite supports J2534/D-PDU protocols for heavy-duty trucks. Note that additional HD software and non-16pin HD adapters may be required for full heavy-duty vehicle diagnostic capabilities.

4.2.9 Online Coding & Flash Hidden Services

Perform online coding to personalize settings, backup/restore data, match/code newly replaced ECUs, and alter configurations. Flash hidden services allow customization of vehicle features such as rear-view mirror folding, daytime running lights, remote window closing, and one-press door locking.

4.2.10 All System Diagnosis

Conduct a full system scan to read/clear diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), view live data streams, freeze frame data, and retrieve ECU information for all available vehicle modules (e.g., Engine, ABS, SRS, Transmission, TPMS, BMS, etc.).

4.2.11 VAG Guided Functions

For Volkswagen Audi Group (VAG) vehicles, the tool provides guided functions that simplify complex diagnostic and service procedures by offering step-by-step instructions.

4.2.12 Remote Diagnosis

The LAUNCH Remote Expert feature allows for remote assistance. Connect the device to the internet, and vehicle fault codes and live data can be sent to remote experts for diagnosis, potentially resolving issues quickly and reducing repair time.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Software Updates

Regularly check for and install software updates to ensure the diagnostic tool has the latest vehicle coverage, bug fixes, and feature enhancements. Connect the tablet to a reliable internet connection and access the 'Software Update' application.

5.2 Cleaning the Device

Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the tablet screen and body. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the device. Ensure the device is powered off before cleaning.

5.3 Battery Care

To prolong battery life, avoid fully discharging the device frequently. Store the device in a cool, dry place when not in use for extended periods. Charge the battery periodically if stored for a long time to prevent deep discharge.
