4. Setup
4.1 Battery Installation
- Unscrew the battery compartment cap located at the top of the meter.
- Insert four LR44 alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity.
- Securely replace the battery compartment cap.
4.2 Initial Preparation
- Remove the protective cap from the electrode.
- Rinse the electrode with distilled water before first use.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Power On/Off
Press the power button (usually marked with an ① symbol) to turn the meter on or off.
5.2 Mode Switching
Press the 'MODE' button to switch between EC (µS/cm) and TDS (ppm) display. The pH and temperature readings are always displayed simultaneously.
5.3 Taking Measurements
- Ensure the meter is clean and calibrated.
- Immerse the electrode into the water sample, ensuring the sensor is fully submerged but not exceeding the immersion line.
- Gently stir the meter to remove any air bubbles.
- Wait for the readings on the display to stabilize.
- To hold a reading, press the 'HOLD' button (if available on your model, refer to specific button layout).
- After measurement, rinse the electrode with distilled water and replace the protective cap.

5.4 Calibration
Regular calibration ensures the accuracy of your meter. The EC/TDS function is pre-calibrated from the factory. pH calibration is required periodically.
5.4.1 pH Calibration
- Prepare the pH buffer solutions (pH 4.00, pH 7.00, pH 10.01) by dissolving the provided powder packets in 250ml of distilled water each.
- Turn on the meter and rinse the electrode with distilled water.
- Immerse the electrode into the pH 6.86 (or 7.00) buffer solution.
- Press and hold the 'pH CAL' button until the display shows 'CAL' and the pH value starts flashing.
- Wait for the reading to stabilize and automatically calibrate. The meter will usually display 'END' or a stable pH value.
- Rinse the electrode with distilled water.
- Repeat the process for pH 4.00 and pH 9.18 (or 10.01) buffer solutions, calibrating in ascending or descending order as per the specific model's instructions (typically 7.00 first, then 4.00, then 10.01).

6. Maintenance
6.1 Electrode Cleaning
After each use, rinse the electrode thoroughly with distilled water to remove any residue. Do not use tap water or abrasive materials, as this can damage the sensor.
6.2 Storage
Always replace the protective cap after use. For prolonged storage, ensure the pH electrode is kept moist. Refer to the specific instructions for your electrode type regarding storage solution if applicable.
6.3 Battery Replacement
When the battery indicator on the display shows low power, replace all four LR44 batteries. The meter's memory function ensures that calibration settings are retained after battery replacement.
7. Troubleshooting
- Inaccurate Readings: If readings appear inconsistent or inaccurate, perform a full pH calibration. Ensure the electrode is clean and free from residue.
- Unstable Readings: Ensure the electrode is fully submerged and gently stirred to remove air bubbles. Allow sufficient time for the reading to stabilize.
- Display Not Working: Check battery levels and replace if necessary. Ensure batteries are inserted with correct polarity.
- pH Calibration Issues: Ensure calibration powders are correctly dissolved in distilled water. Calibrate in the recommended sequence (e.g., pH 7.00 first). If issues persist, the electrode may need replacement.
