4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Power On/Off
- Press the Power Button once to turn the meter ON.
- Press and hold the Power Button for a few seconds to turn the meter OFF. The meter also features an automatic shut-off function to conserve battery power if left idle.
4.2 Mode Selection
The YK-T4 meter allows you to switch between different measurement units for EC/TDS. pH and Temperature are always displayed.
- Press the MODE button (usually marked with a 'MODE' or 'M' symbol) to cycle through EC (µS/cm) and TDS (ppm) display modes.
- The meter will remember the last selected mode upon restart.
4.3 Taking a Measurement
- Prepare Sample: Ensure your water sample is at a stable temperature.
- Immerse Electrode: Dip the electrode of the meter into the water sample, ensuring the sensor is fully submerged but not exceeding the immersion line.
- Stabilize Reading: Gently stir the meter to remove any air bubbles and wait for the readings on the LCD screen to stabilize. This usually takes a few seconds.
- Record Reading: Once stable, record the pH, EC/TDS, and Temperature values displayed.
- Rinse and Store: After measurement, rinse the electrode with distilled water and replace the protective cap.

4.4 Applications
The YINMIK YK-T4 meter is suitable for a wide range of applications:
- Hydroponics: Continuously monitor nutrient solutions for optimal plant growth.
- Pools & Spas: Maintain ideal pH levels (7.2-7.8 pH) to prevent irritation and ensure chlorine effectiveness.
- Aquariums: Ensure healthy aquatic environments by monitoring water parameters.
- Drinking Water: Test filtered water, tap water, well water, and garden water for quality.
- Brewing: Essential for monitoring pH during beer and wine making processes.

5. Calibration
Regular calibration ensures the accuracy of your YINMIK YK-T4 meter. While EC/TDS is pre-calibrated, pH calibration is recommended periodically or if readings become inconsistent.
5.1 pH Calibration
The package includes 6 pH buffer powders (pH 4.00, pH 7.00, pH 10.01). You will need distilled water to prepare the calibration solutions.
- Prepare Solutions: Dissolve each pH buffer powder in 250ml of distilled water to create your calibration solutions.
- Clean Electrode: Rinse the electrode with distilled water and blot dry.
- Start Calibration: Turn on the meter. Press and hold the CAL button (or follow specific instructions in the included manual for your model) until the calibration mode is activated.
- Calibrate pH 7.00: Immerse the electrode into the pH 7.00 buffer solution. Wait for the reading to stabilize and confirm calibration (the meter usually indicates completion).
- Calibrate pH 4.00/10.01: Rinse the electrode. Then, immerse it into the pH 4.00 or pH 10.01 buffer solution (depending on your expected measurement range). Wait for stabilization and confirmation.
- Finish Calibration: Once all necessary points are calibrated, the meter will exit calibration mode automatically or by pressing the CAL button again.

5.2 EC/TDS Calibration
The EC/TDS function of the YK-T4 meter is pre-calibrated from the factory. Under normal usage, re-calibration is not frequently required. If you suspect inaccuracies, refer to the detailed instructions in the included manual for EC/TDS calibration procedures, which typically involve using a standard conductivity solution (e.g., 1413 µS/cm).
6. Maintenance
Proper maintenance extends the lifespan and ensures the accuracy of your YINMIK YK-T4 meter.
6.1 Electrode Care
- Rinsing: Always rinse the electrode with distilled or deionized water before and after each use.
- Cleaning: If the electrode becomes dirty or contaminated, gently clean it with a soft brush and a mild detergent solution, then rinse thoroughly with distilled water.
- Storage: When not in use, ensure the electrode is kept moist. Store the meter with a few drops of electrode storage solution or pH 7.00 buffer solution in the protective cap. Do not store dry.
- Replacement: The YK-T4 features replaceable electrodes, which can extend the meter's overall lifespan. Replacement electrodes can be purchased separately from the YINMIK store.
