Chatbrid AFM/DFM-1 Disabler Instruction Manual

Model: AFM/DFM-1

1. Product Overview

The Chatbrid AFM/DFM-1 Disabler is an advanced device designed to permanently deactivate the Active Fuel Management (AFM) and Dynamic Fuel Management (DFM) systems in compatible General Motors (GM) vehicles. This device ensures your engine operates continuously on all cylinders (V6 or V8 mode), preventing the system from deactivating cylinders for fuel economy. This can lead to consistent engine performance and potentially reduce wear associated with cylinder deactivation cycles.

3. Operating Instructions

Once installed, the AFM/DFM-1 Disabler operates automatically. It ensures your engine remains in its full cylinder mode (V6 or V8) at all times, providing consistent power and responsiveness without the interruptions of cylinder deactivation.

  • Continuous Full Power: The device maintains the engine in V6/V8 mode, eliminating the transition between cylinder modes.
  • No ECU Reprogramming: The disabler does not alter your vehicle's original Engine Control Unit (ECU) programming. It works by sending signals to prevent cylinder deactivation.
  • Reversible: To revert to factory settings, simply unplug the AFM/DFM-1 Disabler from the OBD-II port. The vehicle's system will instantly return to its original programming.

5. Maintenance

The Chatbrid AFM/DFM-1 Disabler requires minimal maintenance. It is designed to be a set-and-forget device. However, if you plan to store your vehicle for an extended period (more than one week) without operation, it is recommended to unplug the device from the OBD-II port to prevent any potential battery drain, as the device draws a small amount of power to maintain its active state.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Device Not Lighting Up: Ensure the device is fully and securely plugged into the OBD-II port. Check for any debris in the port that might prevent a proper connection.
  • Engine Still Entering V4 Mode: Verify that your vehicle is listed as compatible. Ensure the device's indicator lights are active after starting the vehicle. If issues persist, unplug the device, restart the vehicle, and then re-insert the device.
  • Battery Drain (for stored vehicles): If your vehicle is not driven for more than a week, unplug the device to prevent potential battery drain.
