3. Setup Guide
3.1. App Installation & Account Registration
Before setting up your watering system, download the RAINPOINT Home APP from your smartphone's app store (available for iOS and Android). Register an account to begin the setup process. The app is essential for controlling and monitoring your device.

3.2. Hub Connection to Wi-Fi
Plug the Mini WiFi Hub Gen2 into an indoor outlet. The power indicator will turn solid blue. Open the RAINPOINT Home APP, click the "+" icon, select "HWG023" (or "HWG023WBRF" for hub with antenna), and choose your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network to connect. Ensure your phone and the device are close to the Wi-Fi router during this process. Press and hold the operation button on the hub until the Wi-Fi connecting indicator light flashes rapidly. Once connected, the indicator will turn solid blue.

3.3. Solar Water Pump Charging
To power on the solar water pump, remove the insulation sheet from the battery compartment and reinsert the battery. The pump can be charged via the included USB cable (Type-C interface) or by exposing the solar panel to direct sunlight. Charging time depends on sunlight intensity. The 2600mAh high-capacity rechargeable battery ensures reliable operation even in varying weather conditions.

3.4. Plumbing Fittings Assembly
The system comes with various fittings for customized dripline layouts. Cut the main line tubing and branch line tubing to the desired lengths based on your plant arrangement. For easier installation, soften the hose by soaking it in hot water before connecting fittings. Ensure the anti-siphon valve is installed correctly to prevent backflow and siphoning effects, which can lead to uneven water distribution.

Video 3.2: Detailed instructions on how to connect the plumbing fittings, including the anti-siphon valve and micro drip emitters.
3.5. System Installation & Placement
Place the solar water pump with its solar panel facing direct sunlight. The unique rotatable metal back hook design allows for easy hanging on pot edges, balconies, fences, railings, or windowsills without additional nails or fixtures. Connect the piping with the filter to the "IN" port of the pump and the dripline with the anti-siphon valve to the "OUT" port. Ensure the pump's inlet is submerged in your water reservoir.

4. Operating the System
4.1. APP Remote Control & Scheduling
Once the solar water pump is paired with the Mini WiFi Hub, you can control it remotely using the RAINPOINT Home APP. The app allows you to set up to 6 customizable irrigation plans with flexible duration (0 seconds to 60 minutes) and repeat options (Everyday, Even Dates, Odd Dates, or Custom). You can adjust schedules anytime, anywhere.

4.2. Manual Watering
In addition to app-controlled scheduling, you can manually activate watering directly from the pump. Long-press the manual watering button on the device to initiate watering. This feature is convenient for immediate watering needs or when smartphone access is not readily available.
4.3. Intelligent Watering Features
- Moisture-Based Watering: Partner the system with a RAINPOINT WiFi soil meter (sold separately) to enable intelligent irrigation based on real-time soil moisture levels. This ensures plants receive water only when needed, preventing over or under-watering.
- Rain Delay: The RAINPOINT Home APP allows you to set a rain delay (e.g., 24H, 48H, 72H) to skip watering plans on rainy days, conserving water and preventing overwatering.
- Water Shortage Alert & Protection: The system features a smart chip that triggers an auto shut-off during dry-running conditions to prevent motor burnout. The RAINPOINT APP will send water shortage alarms via email and push notifications if the water reservoir is low or tubing is clogged.
5. Maintenance
- Filter Cleaning: Regularly check and clean the filter at the water inlet to prevent clogs and ensure consistent water flow.
- Battery Care: Ensure the solar panel receives adequate sunlight for optimal charging. If used indoors or during prolonged cloudy periods, charge the pump via the USB cable.
- Winterization & Storage: Before freezing temperatures, drain all water from the system, disconnect tubing, and store the pump and hub indoors in a dry place to prevent damage.
6. Troubleshooting
| Issue | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Pump not watering | Low water in reservoir; clogged filter/tubing; low battery; incorrect schedule. | Refill water reservoir; clean filter/check tubing for kinks; charge battery; verify APP schedule. |
| Uneven water distribution | Siphon effect; improper dripline layout; clogged emitters. | Ensure anti-siphon valve is correctly installed; check dripline for proper slope and emitter placement; clean emitters. |
| App connectivity issues | Hub not connected to Wi-Fi; weak Wi-Fi signal; incorrect Wi-Fi band (2.4GHz required). | Re-pair hub to Wi-Fi; move hub closer to router; ensure 2.4GHz network is selected. |
| Low battery alert | Insufficient sunlight for solar charging; prolonged use without charging. | Relocate solar panel to direct sunlight; charge via USB cable. |
