5. Setup

5.1. Battery Installation and Charging

  1. Ensure the radio is powered off.
  2. Align the battery pack with the compartment on the back of the radio and push until it clicks into place.
  3. Place the radio into the provided dock charger. The charging indicator light will illuminate.
  4. Connect the USB-C charging cable to the dock and the wall adapter, then plug into a power outlet.
  5. A full charge typically takes approximately 3-4 hours and provides up to 18 hours of operation.

5.2. Attaching the Holster

The 180° swivel holster belt clip allows for convenient carrying and quick access. Simply slide the radio into the holster until it securely locks.

Rotate the top knob (next to the power knob) to adjust the listening volume.

6.3. Channel Selection

The Performa 400 features two dedicated channels. Use the up/down arrow buttons on the front panel to select your desired channel.

6.4. Transmitting and Receiving (Push-to-Talk)

  1. To transmit, press and hold the large Push-to-Talk (PTT) button on the side of the radio. Speak clearly into the microphone.
  2. Release the PTT button to stop transmitting and return to receive mode.
  3. Ensure you hold the PTT button for approximately 3 seconds before speaking and hold for 3 seconds after speaking to ensure your full message is transmitted.

6.5. Over-the-Air Cloning

This feature allows you to quickly sync radio settings across multiple Performa radios. Refer to the advanced programming guide for detailed instructions on initiating and completing over-the-air cloning.
