Maintenance
-
Cleaning:
Wipe the radio with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. For saltwater exposure, rinse the radio thoroughly with fresh water and dry completely.
-
Battery Care:
To maximize battery life, avoid fully discharging the battery frequently. Store the radio with a partially charged battery (around 50%) if not used for extended periods. Recharge the battery regularly.
-
Waterproofing:
Regularly inspect the battery cover seal and antenna connection for any signs of wear or damage. Ensure all covers and connections are securely fastened before exposing the radio to water to maintain its IPX8 rating.
Troubleshooting
-
Radio does not power on:
Check if the battery is properly installed and fully charged. Ensure the battery contacts are clean. Try charging the radio for a few hours.
-
Poor reception or transmission:
Verify the antenna is securely attached. Ensure you are on the correct channel and within range of other stations. Check the transmit power setting; increase it if necessary (within legal limits).
-
GPS not acquiring position:
Ensure the radio has a clear view of the sky. GPS acquisition may take longer in areas with obstructions or during initial use. Move to an open area.
-
Bluetooth pairing issues:
Ensure both the radio and the Bluetooth device are in pairing mode and within close proximity. Check if the Bluetooth device is already paired with another device. Try restarting both devices.
-
Water-activated strobe light not working:
Ensure the radio is fully submerged in water. Check for any obstructions around the water sensors. If the issue persists, contact customer support.
