Velieta 600 lbs Commercial Ice Machine

Model FTM18Q2 Instruction Manual

1. Setup and Installation

The Velieta Commercial Ice Machine (Model FTM18Q2) is designed for freestanding installation. It features a split design, with the ice-making head and storage bin shipped in two separate packages. Ensure both packages are received before beginning installation.

Initial Preparation

  • Upon delivery, allow the unit to stand upright for a minimum of 6 hours before connecting it to power. This allows refrigerants and oils to settle.
  • Remove all protective films and tapes from the machine's surface. Refer to the detailed steps below for protective film removal.

Protective Film Removal

The machine surface is covered with a metal protective film and blue protective tape that must be removed before use. Follow these steps:

  1. Loosen the top 3 screws with a screwdriver to open the front door.
  2. Remove all blue tape that fixes the ice harvest panel and ensure the panel rotates flexibly.
  3. Screw the door back into place.

Physical Installation

  • Place the ice-making head securely on top of the storage bin.
  • The unit features side ventilation, allowing for placement against walls while ensuring proper airflow.
  • Adjust the stainless steel feet on the storage bin to ensure the machine is level on uneven floors.

Water and Drain Connections

Ice Production

  • The machine produces up to 600 lbs of ice per day.
  • Each cycle produces 182 clear ice cubes in approximately 8-15 minutes.
  • The integrated storage bin has a capacity of 350 lbs.

Adjustable Ice Thickness

The machine offers three adjustable ice thickness levels:

  • Thin Ice: Approximately 8 minutes production time, ideal for rapid chilling and retaining freshness (e.g., seafood displays).
  • Medium Ice: Approximately 11 minutes production time, suitable for frozen drinks and coffee.
  • Thick Ice: Approximately 15 minutes production time, best for slow-melting applications like whiskey or brandy.

Use the 'Increase Ice Thickness' and 'Decrease Ice Thickness' buttons on the control panel to select your desired setting.

Smart Features

  • Timer On/Off: Schedule operation times for convenience.
  • Auto-Stop: The machine automatically stops ice production when the ice bin is full to prevent overflow.
  • Blue LED Light: The ice bin features an internal blue LED light for visibility.

3. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your Velieta Commercial Ice Machine.

Self-Cleaning Function

  • The machine is equipped with a one-touch self-cleaning cycle.
  • Initiate the self-cleaning function via the control panel. The cycle typically runs for 40 minutes.
  • Ensure the gravity drain is properly connected during the self-cleaning process.

Water Filter

The included 10-inch PP water filter helps maintain water quality for ice production. Periodically inspect and replace the filter as needed to prevent mineral buildup and ensure clear ice.

Ice Bin and Interior

  • The ice bin features a food-grade PP liner. Regularly clean the interior of the ice bin to maintain hygiene.
  • The thickened cyclopentane foam insulation layer helps slow down ice melting. However, the ice bin does not feature a freezer function; it is recommended to use ice cubes as soon as possible.

4. Troubleshooting

This section provides guidance on common issues you might encounter with your ice machine.

Control Panel Alerts

  • Ice Full Alert: The machine will display an 'Ice Full' alert and automatically stop production when the storage bin reaches capacity. Remove ice to resume operation.
  • Water Low Alert: If the water supply is insufficient, a 'Water Low' alert will activate. Check the water inlet connection and ensure adequate water pressure.
  • Fault Mode Indicator: The control panel includes a 'Fault Mode' indicator. If this light illuminates, consult the detailed troubleshooting section in the full manual or contact customer support.

General Issues

  • No Ice Production: Verify power connection, water supply, and ensure the machine is not in 'Ice Full' or 'Water Low' status. Check if the timer function is active.
  • Poor Ice Quality: Ensure the water filter is clean and properly installed. Consider water quality if issues persist. Adjust ice thickness settings if ice is too thin or too thick.
  • Excessive Melting: While the bin is insulated, it is not a freezer. Ensure the ambient temperature is within operating limits and that the bin lid is closed properly.
