3. Setup

3.1 Power Connection

Your keyboard can be powered by either the included AC adapter or 6 AA batteries.

  • AC Adapter: Connect the DC 9V power adapter to the 'DC 9V' jack on the rear panel of the keyboard and then plug it into a standard wall outlet.
  • Batteries: Open the battery compartment on the underside of the keyboard. Insert 6 AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity. Close the compartment securely.

3.2 Attaching the Music Stand

Insert the music stand into the designated slots on the top panel of the keyboard. Ensure it is firmly seated.

3.3 Connecting Accessories

The rear panel of the keyboard features various jacks for external devices:

  • Sustain Pedal: Connect a sustain pedal (not included) to the 'SUSTAIN' jack for expressive playing.
  • AUX In: Connect an external audio source (e.g., smartphone, MP3 player) to the 'AUX IN' jack using a 3.5mm audio cable to play along with your favorite tracks.
  • Microphone: Plug a microphone into the 'MIC' jack for singing along while playing.
  • Headphones: Connect headphones to the 'PHONES' jack for private practice. This will mute the internal speakers.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Power On/Off and Volume

  • Power: Press the 'POWER' button to turn the keyboard on or off.
  • Volume: Use the 'VOLUME' knob or '+' / '-' buttons to adjust the overall sound level.

4.2 Selecting Tones (Sounds)

The keyboard offers 300 different tones. To select a tone:

  • Press the 'TONE' button.
  • Use the number pad or '+' / '-' buttons to enter the desired tone number. The selected tone number will appear on the LED display.

4.3 Selecting Rhythms

Choose from 300 rhythms to accompany your playing:

  • Press the 'RHYTHM' button.
  • Use the number pad or '+' / '-' buttons to select a rhythm.
  • Press 'START/STOP' to begin or end the rhythm.

4.4 Tempo Adjustment

Adjust the speed of rhythms and demo songs:

  • Press the 'TEMPO' button.
  • Use the '+' / '-' buttons to increase or decrease the tempo.

4.5 Demo Songs

The keyboard includes 50 demo songs:

  • Press the 'DEMO' button.
  • Use the number pad or '+' / '-' buttons to select a demo song.
  • Press 'PLAY' to start the selected demo song.

4.6 Recording and Playback

Record your performances and play them back:

  • Press 'REC/PROG' once to enter recording mode. The LED display will indicate recording.
  • Play your desired melody.
  • Press 'REC/PROG' again to stop recording.
  • Press 'PLAY' to listen to your recorded performance.

4.7 Metronome

Use the metronome for timing practice:

  • Press the 'METRONOME' button to activate.
  • Press it again to cycle through different beat patterns or turn off.

4.8 Chord Functions

The keyboard supports various chord modes:

  • Single-Finger Chord: Press 'SINGLE FINGER' and play a single key in the chord area (left side of the keyboard) to generate a full chord.
  • Multi-Finger Chord: Press 'MULTI FINGER' and play a full chord in the chord area for more complex harmonies.
  • Bass Chord: Activates a bass accompaniment when chords are played.

5. Learning Modes

The LEKATO keyboard features two interactive learning modes to help beginners:

  • Single Note Mode: In this mode, the keyboard will wait for you to play the correct note before proceeding to the next. The lighted keys will guide you.
  • Follow Mode: The keyboard will play a melody, and you are prompted to follow along. The lighted keys will indicate which notes to play.

To activate a learning mode, press the 'TEACH' button and then select '1' or '2' for the desired mode. Follow the lighted keys to practice songs.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning

  • Wipe the keyboard surface with a soft, dry cloth.
  • For stubborn dirt, use a slightly damp cloth and then dry thoroughly.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or waxes, as these can damage the finish.

6.2 Storage

  • Store the keyboard in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • If storing for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.
  • Cover the keyboard with a dust cover to protect it from dust and debris.
