Setup Instructions

Follow these steps for proper installation of your misting system.

Step-by-step diagram for installing the chicken coop misting system.

This diagram illustrates the six main steps for setting up the misting system, from cutting the hose to securing it in place.

1. Plan the Layout

Determine the optimal placement for the misting line within your chicken coop or desired area to ensure even cooling. Consider the reach of the 26FT hose and the spacing of the misting heads.

2. Cut the Hose to Length

Use the provided precision hose cutter to cut the 26FT misting hose into appropriate lengths for your setup. Ensure all cuts are clean and straight to facilitate a leak-free connection.

3. Assemble Misting Heads

Insert the cut hose ends firmly into the T-joint misting adapters. Then, securely screw the brass nozzles into the threaded openings of the T-joints. Hand-tighten to ensure a good seal.

4. Connect to Water Filter

Insert one end of the main misting hose into the water filter unit. Ensure it is pushed in completely for a secure fit.

5. Attach to Faucet/Hose

Insert the small filter mesh into the 3/4" threaded connector. Attach this connector to your outdoor faucet or garden hose. If your faucet requires it, use the included 5/8" to 3/4" brass conversion fitting. Connect the water filter unit to this faucet adapter.

This image details the brass adapter and the 3/4 inch threaded connector, highlighting the internal rubber filter and leak-proof design for secure faucet attachment.

6. Secure the Misting System

Using the provided cable ties and pipe clamps, securely mount the misting line in your chicken coop or desired area. Ensure the nozzles are directed appropriately for optimal mist distribution and that the tubing is stable.

Operating Instructions

Once installed, operating your MASTERFUN misting system is straightforward.

1. Water Connection

Ensure the system is securely connected to a standard outdoor faucet. Double-check all connections for tightness to prevent any leaks.

2. Activating the System

Slowly turn on the water supply at the faucet. Observe the misting nozzles for an even spray pattern. You can adjust the water pressure slightly to achieve your desired mist output. The system operates without electricity.

3. Temperature Reduction

The system is designed to release ultra-fine water particles that quickly reduce the surrounding temperature by 10-15°F, providing instant relief and a more breathable environment for your poultry.

This image contrasts a hot coop at 104°F with chickens suffering from heat, against a cool coop at 68°F where chickens are active and healthy due to the misting system.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your misting system.

1. Nozzle Cleaning

Periodically inspect the brass nozzles for clogs, especially if mist output appears uneven. If a nozzle is clogged, gently remove it and clean it with a small brush or by soaking it in a descaling solution. The kit includes 4 spare nozzles for convenient replacement.

2. Filter Cleaning

Regularly check the external water filter for accumulated debris, particularly if using well water or in dusty environments. Disassemble the filter unit and rinse the mesh screen thoroughly under running water. Reassemble the filter securely, ensuring all seals are properly seated.

3. Leak Prevention

Inspect all hose connections and T-joints for leaks. If a leak occurs, re-tighten the connection. If the hose end appears damaged or uneven, use the precision cutter to make a clean, straight cut and re-insert it. For threaded connections, applying PTFE tape can help create a better seal.

4. Winterization

Before the onset of freezing temperatures, it is crucial to disconnect the entire system from the water source. Drain all water from the tubing, nozzles, and filter unit to prevent ice damage. Store all components indoors in a dry place until the next warm season.

Troubleshooting

Refer to this section for common issues and their solutions.

No Mist or Low Mist Output

  • Cause: Insufficient water pressure.
Solution: Ensure the faucet is fully open. Check for any kinks or obstructions in the hose. Verify that the water filter is clean and not blocked.
  • Cause: Clogged nozzles.
Solution: Inspect individual brass nozzles. Clean or replace any clogged nozzles using the spare ones provided.

Leaks at Connections

  • Cause: Loose connections or uneven hose cuts.
Solution: Tighten all hose connections and threaded adapters. If a hose connection is leaking, disconnect, use the provided hose cutter to make a clean, straight cut on the hose end, and re-insert it firmly. For threaded connections, apply PTFE tape for a better seal.

System Not Cooling Effectively

  • Cause: Incorrect nozzle placement or insufficient coverage.
Solution: Adjust the position of misting heads to ensure even distribution of mist in the desired area. Ensure mist is not being blown away by strong winds.
  • Cause: High ambient humidity.
Solution: Misting systems achieve the most significant cooling effect in drier climates. In areas with very high humidity, the evaporative cooling effect may be reduced.
