1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the proper setup, operation, and maintenance of your AnyTone AT-D578UV Plus Dual-Band DMR/Analog Commercial Mobile Radio. Designed for robust performance, this radio offers advanced features for commercial, emergency, and security applications.

2. What's Included

3. Setup

3.1 Power Connection

Connect the supplied DC cable to the radio's power input port. Ensure the fuses are properly installed. Connect the other end of the DC cable to a compatible 13.8V DC power source, observing correct polarity (red for positive, black for negative).

3.2 Antenna Connection

Connect a suitable VHF/UHF antenna to the antenna connector on the rear of the radio. For optimal performance, use an antenna designed for the 136-174 MHz and 400-470 MHz frequency ranges. Connect the GPS antenna to its dedicated port for GPS/APRS functionality.

3.3 Microphone and Bluetooth PTT

Plug the microphone cable into the front panel microphone jack. The Bluetooth PTT button can be paired with the radio for wireless push-to-talk operation. Refer to the radio's on-screen menu for Bluetooth pairing instructions.

3.4 Mounting

Use the provided mobile mounting bracket to securely install the radio in a vehicle or fixed location. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit to prevent overheating, especially during high-power transmissions.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Powering On/Off

Press and hold the power button (usually marked with a power symbol) on the front panel to turn the radio on or off. The color display will illuminate upon power-on.

4.2 Mode Selection (Analog/DMR)

The AT-D578UV Plus supports both Analog and Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) modes. You can switch between modes or select channels pre-programmed for a specific mode. The display will indicate the current operating mode.

4.3 Channel and Zone Navigation

Use the rotary knob or the microphone's keypad to navigate through the 4000 available channels and 250 zones. Each zone can contain up to 250 channels. The full-color display provides clear information on the selected channel, frequency, and other parameters.

4.4 Transmitting and Receiving

To transmit, press and hold the Push-To-Talk (PTT) button on the microphone. Speak clearly into the microphone. Release the PTT button to receive. Ensure you are on an authorized frequency and channel before transmitting.

4.5 GPS/APRS Functionality

The integrated GPS allows for location tracking and Automatic Packet Reporting System (APRS) capabilities. Your location can be transmitted and received, useful for fleet management or emergency coordination.

4.6 Cross-Band Repeat and SFR

The radio features Cross-Band Repeat functionality, allowing it to act as a vehicular repeater. It also supports Single Frequency Repeater (SFR) mode using two digital time slots, enhancing communication range and flexibility.

4.7 High Power Output

The AT-D578UV Plus delivers high power output: 50W on VHF and 40W on UHF, ensuring strong and clear transmissions over long distances.

4.8 Clear Audio

5. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your radio, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the radio's exterior. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Connections: Periodically check all cable connections (power, antenna, microphone) to ensure they are secure and free from corrosion.
  • Environment: Operate and store the radio in a dry environment, away from extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, and excessive dust.
  • Firmware Updates: Check the manufacturer's website periodically for firmware updates to ensure your radio has the latest features and bug fixes.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your radio, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
