1. Introduction and Overview

Thank you for choosing the FaceSec FAD-D55 AI Facial Recognition Attendance Machine. This device is designed to streamline time and attendance management with high-precision facial recognition technology. It offers a robust solution for businesses seeking efficient, fraud-resistant, and automated attendance tracking.

2. Setup

2.1 Unboxing and Components

Carefully unpack the device and ensure all components are present:

  • FaceSec FAD-D55 Smart Time Recorder main unit ×1
  • Power Adapter ×1

2.2 Physical Installation

Place the device on a stable, flat surface. Ensure the location has adequate lighting for optimal facial recognition performance. Avoid direct sunlight or strong backlighting that could interfere with the camera.

2.3 Power Connection

Connect the provided power adapter to the DC input port on the back of the FAD-D55 unit. Plug the adapter into a standard electrical outlet. The device will power on automatically.

2.4 Network Connection

The FAD-D55 supports both wireless (Wi-Fi) and wired (Ethernet) network connections.

  • Wired LAN: Connect an Ethernet cable from your router or network switch to the LAN port on the back of the device.
  • Wireless LAN: On the device's touch screen, navigate to Settings > Network. Select your Wi-Fi network from the list and enter the password. The device supports 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 User Registration

Users can be registered individually or in batches.

  • Individual Registration: Can be done directly on the device's touch panel or via a web browser interface.
  • Batch Registration: Primarily performed through the web browser interface for efficiency.
  • Photo Registration: User photos can be registered via the web browser. Ensure photos meet the standards outlined in the manual's "14.1 Registered Photo Standards" for optimal recognition accuracy.

3.2 Clock-In Methods

The primary clock-in method is facial recognition. The device authenticates users in approximately 0.3 seconds with 99.997% accuracy.

3.3 Clock-In Types

The device supports four types of clock-ins:

  • Arrival (Check-in): To mark the start of the workday.
  • Departure (Check-out): To mark the end of the workday.
  • Going Out: For temporary leave during work hours (e.g., lunch break).
  • Returning: To mark return from temporary leave.

There is no limit on the number of 'Going Out' and 'Returning' punches.

3.4 Shift Management

The built-in FaceAttendance 1.0 software allows for flexible shift creation:

  • Standard Shift: Fixed start and end times.
  • Flexible Shift: Accommodates weekly or daily flexible working hours.
  • Shift Punching: Shifts are automatically identified at punch-in, with no limit on the number of shifts that can be created.

3.5 Accessing Reports

Attendance reports can be viewed and managed through the web browser interface. Reports are exportable and can be sent via email for further analysis.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Cleaning Instructions

To maintain optimal performance and appearance, regularly clean the device:

  • Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water or a mild, non-abrasive cleaner to wipe the screen and body.
  • Do not use harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, or spray liquids directly onto the device.
  • Ensure the device is powered off and unplugged before cleaning.

4.2 Software Updates

Periodically check for software updates through the device's settings or the web interface. Updates may include performance improvements, new features, or security enhancements. Follow the on-screen instructions for any update procedures.

5. Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your FaceSec FAD-D55 device.

5.1 Facial Recognition Accuracy Issues

If facial recognition is inconsistent or inaccurate:

  • Photo Quality: Re-register user photos according to the manual's "14.1 Registered Photo Standards." Ensure photos are clear, well-lit, and capture the face directly.
  • Lighting Conditions: Ensure there are no other strong light sources (e.g., direct sunlight, bright overhead lights) within the camera's imaging range that could cause glare or shadows. Refer to the manual's "1. Installation Conditions" for optimal placement.
  • Distance: Ensure users are within the optimal authentication distance of 60 - 100 cm from the device.

5.2 Network Connectivity Problems

If the device cannot connect to the network:

  • Wired Connection: Check if the Ethernet cable is securely connected to both the device and the router/switch. Verify that your network equipment is functioning correctly.
  • Wireless Connection: Ensure the Wi-Fi password is correct. Check if the device is within range of your Wi-Fi router. Restart your router and the FAD-D55 device.
  • IP Address: Verify the device's IP address settings (DHCP or static) are correct for your network configuration.

5.3 Device Unresponsive

If the touch screen is unresponsive or the device freezes:

  • Perform a soft reset by pressing and holding the power button until the device restarts.
  • If a soft reset does not work, disconnect the power adapter, wait for 10 seconds, and then reconnect it to perform a hard reset.
