1. Safety Information

Always read and understand this manual completely before operating the lawn mower. Failure to follow all instructions may result in serious injury or property damage. Keep this manual for future reference.

General Safety Rules:

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Always wear appropriate eye protection (safety glasses), hearing protection, and sturdy footwear when operating the mower. Long pants are recommended.
  • Clear the Area: Before mowing, thoroughly inspect the area and remove all objects such as rocks, sticks, wires, and toys that could be thrown by the blade.
  • Keep Bystanders Away: Ensure that all bystanders, children, and pets are at a safe distance (at least 50 feet/15 meters) from the mowing area.
  • Avoid Wet Grass: Do not operate the mower in wet grass. Wet grass can cause the mower to slip, and the blade can become clogged.
  • Slope Operation: Exercise extreme caution when mowing on slopes. Mow across the face of slopes, never up and down. Avoid mowing excessively steep slopes.
  • Battery Safety: Use only the specified battery packs and charger. Do not charge batteries in wet or damp conditions. Do not dispose of batteries in fire.
  • Blade Awareness: Keep hands and feet away from the rotating blade. Disconnect the battery pack before performing any maintenance, cleaning, or when clearing a clogged chute.
  • Proper Storage: Store the mower, batteries, and charger in a dry, secure location, out of reach of children.

  2. Lift the rear discharge flap of the mower.

  1. Connect the dual port charger to a standard electrical outlet.
  2. Slide each 20V battery pack onto the charger until it clicks into place.

The mower features a safety two-step activation process to prevent accidental starts.

  1. Ensure batteries are installed and the grass bag is attached (if using).
  2. Press and hold the safety lock button (usually located on the handle).
  3. While holding the safety lock button, pull the bail switch lever towards the handle. The motor will start.

5.4 Mowing Techniques

  • For best results, mow dry grass.
  • Overlap cutting swaths slightly to ensure complete coverage.
  • Avoid overloading the mower by trying to cut too much grass at once. If the grass is very tall, raise the cutting height and make multiple passes.
  • The mower is designed for both rear bagging and mulching. For mulching, ensure the grass bag is removed and the mulching plug (if included) is inserted.

  2. Remove the battery packs for safety.
  3. Lift the rear discharge flap and carefully unhook the grass collection bag.
  4. Empty the grass clippings into a suitable receptacle.
  5. Reattach the grass collection bag securely before resuming operation.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your MZK lawn mower. Always disconnect the battery packs before performing any maintenance.

6.1 Cleaning the Mower

  • After each use, clean the underside of the mower deck to prevent grass buildup, which can affect cutting performance. Use a stiff brush or scraper.
  • Wipe down the exterior of the mower with a damp cloth. Do not use water hoses or pressure washers directly on the mower.
  • Clean the grass collection bag regularly. It can be rinsed with water and allowed to dry completely before reattaching.

6.2 Blade Inspection and Sharpening

  • Regularly inspect the blade for sharpness, cracks, or damage. A dull blade can tear grass, leading to an unhealthy lawn.
  • If the blade is dull, it can be sharpened by a qualified service technician or replaced with a genuine MZK replacement blade.
  • When handling the blade, always wear heavy-duty gloves.

6.3 Battery Care and Storage

  • Store batteries in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • For long-term storage, charge batteries to approximately 50% capacity.
  • Recharge batteries every 3-6 months during extended storage to maintain their health.

6.4 Storage

The MZK mower features a space-saving design for vertical placement.

  • Clean the mower thoroughly before storing.
  • Fold the handle down for compact storage.
  • Store the mower in a dry, protected area where it is not exposed to moisture or freezing temperatures.
