3. Safety Instructions
Please read and follow these safety instructions for proper handling, installation, and usage to prevent leaks, water damage, and potential injury.
- Ensure all connections are secure to prevent leaks.
- Do not overtighten fittings, as this may cause damage.
- Keep tubing away from sharp objects or areas where it might be stepped on or damaged.
- Regularly inspect the system for any signs of wear or damage.
- If installing outdoors, protect components from extreme weather conditions when not in use.
4. Setup Guide
Follow these steps to integrate the extension kit with your existing RAINPOINT drip irrigation system:
- Plan Your Layout: Determine the placement of your additional 10 plants and plan the most efficient path for the main and branch lines. Consider the length of tubing provided.
- Connect the Filter: If your main RAINPOINT pump system does not have an inline filter, connect the provided filter to the pump's outlet. Ensure it is securely attached.
- Attach Main Line Tubing: Connect the 32.81ft long 1/6 inch main line tubing to the outlet of the filter or directly to your existing main line.
- Lay Out Main Line: Route the main line tubing to cover the general area where your new plants are located.
- Install T Barb Fittings: At each point where you want to water a plant, cut the 1/6 inch main line tubing and insert a T Barb Fitting. These fittings allow you to branch off to individual plants.
- Connect Branch Line Tubing: Attach the 9.84ft long 1/8 inch branch line tubing to the smaller outlet of the T Barb Fittings. Cut the branch line tubing to the desired length to reach each plant.
- Insert Micro Drip Emitters: At the end of each 1/8 inch branch line, insert a Micro Drip Emitter. Position the emitter near the base of the plant, ensuring it delivers water directly to the root zone.
- Secure Tubing: Use the provided Zip Ties to secure the tubing in place, preventing kinks and ensuring a neat installation.
- Test the System: Once all connections are made, activate your main RAINPOINT pump system. Check for any leaks at the connections and observe the emitters to ensure consistent water flow to each plant. Adjust emitter positions or tubing as needed.

5. Operating Instructions
Once the extension kit is properly installed and connected to your RAINPOINT drip irrigation pump, its operation is integrated with your main system. The extension kit itself does not require separate operational controls.
- Main Pump Control: The watering schedule and duration for the extended plants will be governed by the settings on your primary RAINPOINT irrigation pump. Refer to your pump's user manual for programming instructions.
- Monitor Emitters: Periodically observe the micro drip emitters to ensure they are delivering water consistently to each plant. Water flow may vary slightly based on the overall system pressure and the number of emitters.
- Adjust Emitter Placement: As plants grow or their water needs change, you may need to reposition the micro drip emitters to ensure water is delivered effectively to the root zone.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your drip irrigation extension kit.
- Filter Cleaning: The inline filter prevents debris from entering and clogging the system. Regularly inspect the filter for accumulated sediment and clean it by rinsing under running water. The frequency of cleaning depends on your water source quality.
- Check for Clogs: Periodically inspect micro drip emitters and tubing for any signs of clogging. If an emitter is not dripping or has reduced flow, gently remove it and clean any blockages.
- Inspect for Leaks: Regularly check all tubing, connections, and fittings for any signs of leaks. Tighten loose connections or replace damaged components as necessary to prevent water waste and ensure efficient delivery.
- Tubing Inspection: Examine the main and branch line tubing for kinks, cracks, or damage caused by pests or environmental factors. Replace damaged sections promptly.
- Winterization (if applicable): In regions with freezing temperatures, it is crucial to drain the entire system before winter to prevent damage from freezing water. Disconnect the main line, remove emitters, and allow all water to drain. Store components in a dry, protected area.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your drip irrigation extension kit, refer to the following troubleshooting guide:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No water flow to plants | Main pump not operating; Filter clogged; Tubing kinked or blocked; Emitters clogged. | Check main pump power and settings; Clean the filter; Inspect tubing for kinks or blockages; Clean or replace emitters. |
| Uneven water flow / Some plants not getting enough water | Clogged emitters or branch lines; Insufficient water pressure from main pump; Emitters incorrectly placed. | Clean or replace clogged emitters/branch lines; Ensure main pump is providing adequate pressure; Reposition emitters closer to plant roots. |
| Leaks at connections | Loose fittings; Damaged tubing or fittings. | Tighten all connections; Inspect tubing and fittings for cracks or damage and replace if necessary. |
| Tubing detaches from fittings | Insufficient insertion depth; Tubing not compatible; High water pressure. | Ensure tubing is fully inserted onto barbed fittings; Verify tubing size compatibility; If pressure is too high, consider a pressure reducer (if not already part of your main system). |
