Setup Instructions

Follow these steps carefully to set up your RAINPOINT WiFi Water Timer and connect it to your system.

1. Prepare Before Setting Up

Before you begin, ensure you have the following items ready:

  • A stable 2.4GHz WiFi network (5.0GHz is not supported).
  • A RAINPOINT WiFi Gateway (HWG023 or HWG040).
  • A Type-C USB cable and adapter for the gateway.
  • 4 new AA (1.5V) alkaline batteries for the water timer.
  • Your smartphone.

Warm Notice: Keep your WiFi hose timer, WiFi gateway, smartphone, and router close to each other to ensure a strong WiFi signal during setup. Avoid placing the gateway on the floor or near metal objects like refrigerators.

2. Install the RainPoint Home App on Your Phone

  1. Connect your smartphone to your 2.4GHz WiFi network. Ensure you are not connected to a 5GHz network.
  2. Search for "RainPoint Home" on your APP Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android), or scan the QR code provided in the quick guide to download the application.
  3. Submit registration or log in with an existing account.

3. Connect the WiFi Gateway

  1. Power on the WiFi Gateway with the Type-C USB cable and place it close to the router and timer.
  2. Press and hold the button on the gateway until the WiFi connecting indicator light flashes BLUE quickly.
  3. Open the RainPoint Home APP, select "Add Device", find "HWG023WBRF" (or your specific gateway model), and follow the APP instructions to complete the connection.

4. Connect the Water Timer to the Gateway

  1. Insert 4 new AA alkaline batteries into the battery compartment of the timer.
  2. Tap the gateway icon on the APP homepage to enter the gateway homepage, and tap "Add Device" and then tap "Add New Devices" to add the WiFi timer.
  3. Find and select "HTV145FRF" to add it.
  4. Press and hold the button on the timer until the RED LED indicator flashes rapidly (2 times per second), then click "Next" in the app. The app will automatically start pairing the timer.

Connection done! Your timer is now ready for programming.

5. Physical Installation

Once connected, attach the timer to your outdoor faucet. Ensure it is hand-tightened only to prevent damage.

  • Cycle & Soak: Splits the total watering time into multiple short cycles with breaks in between to allow the soil to absorb water and improve watering efficiency. Cycle duration and soak duration can be set from 1 minute to 12 hours.
