3. Setup
3.1 Charging the Device
The LCR-P1 Transistor Tester is powered by a built-in 300mAh lithium battery. Before first use, or when the battery is low, charge the device using the provided USB Type-C cable.
- Connect the USB Type-C cable to the charging port on the device.
- Connect the other end of the cable to a 5V/1A USB power adapter (not included) or a computer USB port.
- The screen will indicate charging status. Charge until the battery indicator shows full.
3.2 Initial Power On
Press and hold the power button (usually the 'TEST' button or a dedicated power button) to turn on the device. The screen will display the FNIRSI logo and firmware version (e.g., V:1.0.3).
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Component Testing
The LCR-P1 features a ZIF (Zero Insertion Force) socket and dedicated test points for various components. Ensure the device is powered on.
- Insert Component:
- For through-hole components, lift the lever of the ZIF socket, insert the component leads into the appropriate numbered slots (1, 2, 3), and then lower the lever to secure.
- For SMD components, use the provided test board. Place the SMD component on the designated pads of the test board, then insert the test board into the ZIF socket.
- Alternatively, use the test hooks for larger components or in-circuit testing, connecting them to the corresponding test points.
- Initiate Test: Press the TEST button. The device will automatically identify the component type and measure its parameters.
- Read Results: The 1.44-inch color screen will display the component type (e.g., Resistor, Capacitor, Diode, Transistor) and its measured values (e.g., resistance, capacitance, inductance, forward voltage drop, gain).

4.2 NEC Infrared Decoding
The LCR-P1 can decode NEC protocol infrared signals, useful for testing remote controls.
- Switch the mode to "IR Decoding" using the dedicated switch or menu option (refer to the screen for current mode).
- Point an NEC protocol remote control towards the IR receiver on the LCR-P1.
- Press a button on the remote control. The LCR-P1 screen will display the decoded infrared code.

4.3 Data Export and Firmware Upgrade
The device supports connecting to a computer for data export and firmware upgrades.
- Connect the LCR-P1 to a computer using the USB Type-C cable.
- Follow the instructions provided with the device's software (if applicable) or refer to the manufacturer's website for specific procedures on data export and firmware updates.
5. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the device. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Storage: Store the device in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Battery Care: For optimal battery life, avoid fully discharging the battery frequently. Charge the device regularly if not in use for extended periods.
- Component Handling: Always ensure components are discharged before testing to prevent damage to the tester, despite its anti-burn protection.
6. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Device does not power on. | Low battery. | Charge the device using the USB Type-C cable. |
| Inaccurate readings. | Poor component connection; component not fully discharged. | Ensure component leads are clean and securely inserted. Discharge capacitors before testing. |
| IR decoding not working. | Remote control not NEC protocol; remote control battery low; incorrect mode selected. | Verify remote control protocol. Replace remote control batteries. Ensure "IR Decoding" mode is active. |
| "Unknown" or "Damaged" component displayed. | Component is faulty or outside measurement range. | Verify component integrity. Check if component parameters are within the tester's specifications. |
