Setting the Time
- Unscrew the crown counter-clockwise until it springs out.
- Pull the crown out to Position 3 (two clicks). The seconds hand will stop.
- Rotate the crown to move the hour and minute hands to the correct time. Ensure the 24-hour GMT hand is also correctly aligned with the main time if it's not being used for a second time zone.
- Once set, push the crown back to Position 0 and screw it down clockwise firmly to ensure water resistance.
Setting the Date
- Unscrew the crown counter-clockwise until it springs out.
- Pull the crown out to Position 1 (one click).
- Rotate the crown clockwise or counter-clockwise to adjust the date. Avoid setting the date between 9 PM and 3 AM, as this can damage the movement.
- Once set, push the crown back to Position 0 and screw it down clockwise firmly.
Setting the GMT (Second Time Zone)
The red GMT hand indicates a second time zone on a 24-hour scale, read against the rotating bezel.
- Unscrew the crown counter-clockwise until it springs out.
- Pull the crown out to Position 2 (one click, after Position 1).
- Rotate the crown to move the red GMT hand to the desired 24-hour time.
- Once set, push the crown back to Position 0 and screw it down clockwise firmly.
The unidirectional rotating bezel can be used to track a third time zone or for dive timing. Rotate the bezel counter-clockwise to align the desired marker with the GMT hand or minute hand for elapsed time measurement.
Maintenance
Water Resistance
Your Tissot Seastar 1000 Quartz GMT watch is water-resistant up to 30 bar (300 meters / 1000 feet). This makes it suitable for short periods of recreational swimming and showering. It is not suitable for diving or snorkeling. Always ensure the crown is fully screwed down before exposing the watch to water. Avoid operating the crown or pushers while the watch is wet or submerged.
After exposure to saltwater, rinse the watch with fresh water and dry it thoroughly with a soft cloth.
Cleaning
Clean your watch regularly with a soft, dry cloth. For more thorough cleaning, especially after contact with sweat or dirt, use a soft brush and soapy water, then rinse with fresh water and dry completely. Ensure the crown is screwed down before using water.
Battery Replacement
The watch is powered by a quartz movement requiring batteries (2 P76 batteries included). When the battery is depleted, the watch may stop or exhibit an End-of-Life (EOL) indicator (if applicable, the seconds hand may jump every few seconds). Battery replacement should only be performed by an authorized Tissot service center or a qualified watchmaker to maintain water resistance and warranty validity.
General Care
- Avoid exposing your watch to extreme temperatures (above 60°C / 140°F or below 0°C / 32°F) or sudden temperature changes.
- Protect your watch from strong impacts and vibrations.
- Keep the watch away from strong magnetic fields, which can affect the accuracy of quartz movements.
- Avoid contact with solvents, detergents, perfumes, and cosmetic products, as they can damage the case, strap, or gaskets.
Troubleshooting
Watch Not Running
- Check Crown Position: Ensure the crown is fully pushed in and screwed down (Position 0). If it's pulled out, the watch will not run.
- Battery Depletion: If the watch has stopped completely, the battery may need replacement. Refer to the "Battery Replacement" section under Maintenance.
Incorrect Time or Date
- Reset Time/Date: Follow the instructions in the "Operating Instructions" section to correctly set the time, date, and GMT hand.
- Magnetic Interference: Strong magnetic fields can temporarily affect quartz watch accuracy. If suspected, keep the watch away from magnetic sources.
If problems persist, contact an authorized Tissot service center for assistance.
