3. Connecting to a Computer for Settings and File Management

To access advanced settings or manage recorded files, connect the recorder to a Windows or Mac computer. Ensure the recorder is turned OFF before connecting. Gently connect the device to your computer via the USB-C port. Avoid pressing any buttons during connection to ensure proper recognition by the computer.

Computer Setup for Voice Recorder Settings

4. Adjusting Settings via RECSET-2159 File

Once connected to a computer, locate the 'RECSET-2159' file on the device's storage. Open this file to configure various settings:

  • Date and Time: Set the current date and time. The format must be 14 digits: Year-Month-Day-HH:MM:SS.
  • Gain: Adjust recording sensitivity (1-7). Advice: 5.
  • Voice Activation (VOR): Enable or disable voice activation (0-7). 0 is off, 1-7 is on. Advice: 0 (disabled by default).
  • Bit Rate: Select recording quality (0-9). Options include 0-32K, 1-64K, 2-128K, 3-160K, 4-256K, 5-384K, 6-512K, 7-768K, 8-1024K, 9-1536K.
  • Segment Recording (PAR): Set recording file segmented time (0-120 minutes). 0 means 2 hours by default. Advice: 0.
  • Noise Reduction: Adjust noise reduction sensitivity (0-7). 0 is off, 1-7 is on. Advice: 3 (default value, do not change).

Operating Instructions

1. Recording Audio

To start recording, slide the ON/OFF switch upwards to the "ON" position. The device will automatically begin recording after the indicator light flashes off. To stop recording and save the file, slide the switch downwards to the "OFF" position.

2. Playback

The Vandlion11 recorder does not have a built-in speaker. To listen to recordings, connect the provided headphones to the device. Once headphones are connected, you can navigate and play back your audio files.

3. Voice Activated Recording (VAR)

If enabled via the 'RECSET-2159' file, the voice activation mode will automatically pause recording when no sound is detected and resume when sound is present. This feature helps conserve storage space and reduces silent segments in your recordings. Remember, VAR is disabled by default and must be activated through the computer settings.

4. Transferring Files to a Computer

Connect the recorder to your computer (ensure the recorder is OFF before connecting). The device will appear as a removable disk. You can then drag and drop recorded files from the recorder to your computer for storage or further processing.

Maintenance

1. Cleaning

Wipe the device with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using liquid cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the device.

2. Storage

Store the voice recorder in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Keep it away from strong magnetic fields.

3. Important Notes

  • Do not connect headphones, computers, or other devices during the recording process, as this will interrupt the recording.
  • Formatting the device on a computer is prohibited. If you do so, the storage format may change, and the digital recorder will cease to function correctly.

Troubleshooting

1. Device Not Recognized by Computer

  • Ensure the digital recorder is turned OFF before connecting it to the computer.
  • Connect the device gently and avoid pressing any buttons during connection.
  • If your computer lacks the necessary driver, search online for "Download computer driver" to update your system.

2. Excessive Noise During Recording

  • Place the digital recorder smoothly on a stable surface and avoid touching or moving it during recording.
  • Record away from known noise sources such as air conditioning, typing, clothing friction, or computer fan noise.
  • When placing the recorder on a desk, use a non-conductive material underneath to minimize noise transfer. Recording directly on a desk can pick up vibrations and generate noise.
  • Always record in the quietest possible environment.

3. Device Not Working After Formatting

As stated in the maintenance section, formatting the device on a computer is prohibited. If this occurs, the internal storage format may be corrupted, rendering the device inoperable. Please contact customer support for assistance.
