1. Introduction

The BRZHIFI A1S is a pure Class A power amplifier designed for high-fidelity audio systems. It delivers 20W per channel (at 8Ω) and is engineered to provide a delicate, warm, and smooth audio experience. This manual provides essential information for the proper setup, operation, and maintenance of your A1S amplifier.

2. Setup

Follow these steps to correctly set up your BRZHIFI A1S amplifier:

1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the amplifier and all accessories from the packaging. Verify that all included components are present: Amplifier, Manual, RCA cable, Power cable.
2. Placement: Place the amplifier on a stable, flat surface with adequate ventilation. Ensure there is sufficient space around the unit for heat dissipation, as Class A amplifiers generate heat during operation.
3. Speaker Connections: Connect your speakers to the gold-plated pure copper terminals on the rear panel. Ensure correct polarity (+ to + and - to -) for each channel (OUT-R for right, OUT-L for left) to prevent signal loss and ensure optimal audio performance.
4. Audio Input Connections: Connect your audio source (e.g., preamplifier, DAC) to the RCA input terminals (IN-R for right, IN-L for left) on the rear panel using the provided RCA cable or a high-quality alternative.
5. Power Connection: Connect the power cable to the amplifier's power inlet and then to a suitable AC power outlet.
6. Voltage Adjustment: Important: The power switches of products sold in different countries and regions have been adjusted according to the local voltage. Do not adjust the input voltage adjustment switch unless absolutely necessary to avoid damaging the equipment due to mismatched voltage settings.

3. Operating Instructions

Once the amplifier is set up, follow these steps for operation:

1. Power On: Press the power switch on the front panel to turn on the amplifier. The indicator light will illuminate.
2. Volume Control: The amplifier features two independent volume control knobs, one for each channel (left and right). Adjust these knobs to achieve your desired listening level.
3. Break-in Period: For optimal sound quality, allow some break-in time after receiving the product. The sound quality will improve significantly with use over time.
4. Power Off: Press the power switch again to turn off the amplifier when not in use.

4. Internal Components Overview

The A1S amplifier incorporates high-performance components for superior audio reproduction:

• Main Filter Array: Each channel utilizes four 18000μF/35V filter capacitors from Nippon Chemical's Black Diamond series, totaling 144000μF. This large capacity ensures extremely fast charging and discharging speeds, contributing to rapid dynamic response and deep bass penetration.
• Toroidal Transformer: A large toroidal transformer provides a strong and continuous power reserve, crucial for the amplifier's robust performance.
• Power Transistors: The left and right channels each employ a pair of Ansem MJL21193/MJL21194 power transistors. These transistors are known for their sound clarity, layering, and detail resolution, making them suitable for Class A amplifiers.
• OMRON Relays: Equipped with OMRON relays, the amplifier prevents switch on/off shocks and provides DC output protection. Silver alloy contacts ensure a long service life and stable performance.

5. Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your amplifier:

• Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the amplifier. Avoid using liquid cleaners or solvents, as they may damage the finish or internal components.
• Ventilation: Ensure that the ventilation slots on the amplifier are not blocked. Class A amplifiers generate significant heat, and proper airflow is essential to prevent overheating.
• Power Off When Not in Use: For extended periods of inactivity, it is recommended to power off the amplifier and disconnect it from the power outlet.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues, refer to the following troubleshooting guide:

• No Power:
  • Check if the power cable is securely connected to both the amplifier and the power outlet.
  • Ensure the power outlet is functional.
  • Verify the voltage adjustment switch is set correctly for your region (do not change unless certain).
• No Sound:
  • Confirm that the audio source is playing and properly connected to the amplifier's input terminals.
  • Check all speaker connections for secure contact and correct polarity.
  • Ensure the volume knobs on the front panel are turned up.
  • Verify that the audio source is functioning correctly.
• Distorted Sound:
  • Reduce the volume level from both the amplifier and the audio source.
  • Check for loose or damaged speaker cables or input cables.
  • Ensure the impedance of your speakers matches the amplifier's specifications.
• Overheating:
  • Ensure adequate ventilation around the amplifier. Remove any obstructions from the top or sides.
  • Avoid placing the amplifier in direct sunlight or near heat sources.
  • If the unit feels excessively hot, power it off and allow it to cool down before resuming use.
