3. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your sawmill.

3.1 Blade Lubrication

The sawmill features a water lube system with a manual valve for blade lubrication. Ensure the 4-gallon lubricant tank is filled before operation to reduce friction and heat during cutting.

3.2 General Cleaning

After each use, clean sawdust and debris from the track, blade, and engine area. This prevents buildup that could affect performance or cause wear.

3.3 Engine Maintenance

Refer to the engine manufacturer's manual for specific maintenance schedules, including oil changes, air filter cleaning/replacement, and spark plug inspection.

3.4 Manual Tube Storage

A convenient manual tube is provided on the sawmill for storing operation manuals, user guides, drawings, or small maintenance tools.

4. Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter and provides potential solutions.

4.1 Engine Not Starting

  • Check Fuel Level: Ensure the fuel tank is not empty.
  • Check Spark Plug: Inspect the spark plug for fouling or damage. Clean or replace as needed.
  • Check Battery (Electric Start): Ensure the 12V 20Ah lead-acid battery is charged.
  • Choke/Throttle Position: Verify the choke is engaged for cold starts and the throttle is in the correct starting position.

4.2 Blade Not Cutting Efficiently

  • Dull Blade: The saw blade may be dull. Replace with a new carbonized steel blade (10 blades included with purchase).
  • Insufficient Lubrication: Ensure the water lube system is functioning and the tank is full.
  • Log Movement: Verify logs are securely clamped with the spiral log clamps.
  • Track Leveling: Re-check that the track system is perfectly level. Uneven tracks can cause inconsistent cuts.

4.3 Excessive Vibration or Noise

  • Loose Fasteners: Check all bolts and fasteners on the sawmill and track system for tightness.
  • Blade Tension: Ensure the blade tension is correctly adjusted using the adjustable lever.
  • Blade Damage: Inspect the blade for any bends, cracks, or missing teeth. Replace if damaged.
