2. Important Safety Information

This smoke detector is designed to detect smoke particles. It cannot prevent a fire. For maximum protection, install smoke detectors on every level of your home, inside each sleeping area, and in the hallway outside of each sleeping area. Always follow local and national building codes.

• Do Not Paint: Never paint the smoke detector. Paint can clog the openings and interfere with the sensor's ability to detect smoke.

4.1 Choosing a Location

Proper placement of your smoke detector is crucial for effective fire detection. Follow these guidelines:

• Install at least one smoke detector on every level of your home, including basements and attics.
• Place a smoke detector inside each bedroom and in the hallway outside of each sleeping area.
• For ceiling mounting, position the detector in the center of the room or at least 4 inches (10 cm) from any wall.
• For wall mounting, the top of the detector should be between 4 and 12 inches (10-30.5 cm) from the ceiling.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Normal Operation

Under normal operating conditions, the green LED indicator will flash approximately once every 60 seconds, indicating that the detector is powered on and functioning correctly.

5.2 Alarm Conditions

When smoke is detected, the red LED indicator will flash rapidly, and the alarm will sound with bilingual voice alerts ("Fire!" / "Incendie!"). The alarm will continue until the smoke clears.

5.3 Silence Feature

In case of a nuisance alarm (e.g., from cooking fumes), you can temporarily silence the alarm by pressing the 'TEST/SILENCE' button. The alarm will be silenced for approximately 9 minutes. If the smoke level is still high after the silence period, the alarm will reactivate.

Do Not Disturb Mode: If the detector indicates a low voltage or fault (yellow LED flash), pressing the 'TEST/SILENCE' button will activate a Do Not Disturb mode for approximately ten hours.
