Setup
Before performing a blood glucose test, ensure you have the following items ready:
- LinkSun/Bioland Glucose Meter (compatible model)
- LinkSun Blood Glucose Test Strip
- LinkSun Sterile Lancet
- Lancing Device (usually comes with the meter)
- Alcohol swab (optional, for cleaning the test site)
Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water, then dry them completely before handling any testing supplies.
Operating Instructions: How to Perform a Blood Glucose Test
Follow these steps for accurate blood glucose testing:
- Prepare the Lancing Device:
Insert a new LinkSun lancet into your lancing device until it clicks into place. Twist off the protective cap of the lancet to expose the needle. Adjust the depth setting on your lancing device by twisting the cap back on to your desired penetration level. Refer to your lancing device's manual for specific instructions on setting the depth.
- Insert the Test Strip:
Remove a test strip from its vial and immediately close the vial cap tightly. Insert the test strip into the test strip port of your glucose meter. The meter should turn on automatically and display a symbol indicating it is ready for a blood sample.

- Obtain a Blood Sample:
Hold the lancing device firmly against the side of your fingertip. Press the release button to prick your finger. Gently squeeze your finger until a small drop of blood forms. Do not smear the blood.

- Apply Blood to Test Strip:
Touch the tip of the test strip to the blood drop. The blood will be automatically drawn into the strip. The meter will begin counting down once enough blood has been applied.
- Read Results:
Your blood glucose result will appear on the meter's display within approximately 5 seconds.
- Dispose of Used Supplies:
Carefully remove the used test strip from the meter and dispose of it properly. Eject the used lancet from the lancing device and dispose of it in a puncture-resistant container (sharps container). Do not reuse test strips or lancets.

Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter with the test strips and lancets. For issues related to your glucose meter, please refer to your meter's specific user manual.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Meter does not turn on after inserting strip. | Strip inserted incorrectly; meter battery low; strip expired or damaged. | Ensure strip is fully inserted in the correct direction. Check meter battery. Use a new, unexpired strip. |
| Insufficient blood sample. | Not enough blood applied; blood applied too slowly; lancing depth too shallow. | Ensure a sufficient blood drop forms before applying. Apply blood quickly to the strip. Adjust lancing device depth if needed. |
| Error message on meter (e.g., "E-1", "E-2"). | Specific error codes vary by meter; often indicates strip issue, temperature, or meter malfunction. | Refer to your glucose meter's user manual for specific error code meanings and solutions. Ensure strips are stored correctly and not expired. |
| Pain during lancing. | Lancing depth too deep; incorrect lancing technique. | Adjust lancing device to a shallower depth. Use the side of the fingertip, not the pad. Ensure hands are warm to promote blood flow. |
| Test strips stuck together in vial. | Humidity or manufacturing variation. | Gently separate them. If separation damages the strip, discard and use a new one. Store in a cool, dry place. |
