2. Safety Instructions
Always prioritize safety when operating power tools. Read and understand all safety warnings and instructions before use to prevent electric shock, fire, and serious injury.
General Safety Warnings:
- Work Area Safety: Keep the work area clean and well-lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents. Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust.
- Electrical Safety: Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces. Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Never modify the plug in any way.
- Personal Safety: Always wear eye protection and hearing protection. Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or gloves when necessary. Stay alert, watch what you are doing, and use common sense.
- Tool Use and Care: Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. Disconnect the plug from the power source before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools.
- Specific Pole Saw Safety:
- Ensure the safety lock and trigger mechanism are fully engaged before operation.
- Verify the built-in cable lock is properly secured to prevent accidental unplugging.
- Maintain a firm grip with both hands on the pole saw during operation.
- Be aware of falling branches and maintain a safe distance from others.
- Do not operate the pole saw while standing on a ladder or in an unstable position.
3. Assembly and Setup
Follow these steps to assemble your MAXLANDER Electric Pole Saw. For a visual guide, please refer to the installation video below.
Assembly Steps:
- Attach Chain to Bar: Carefully place the saw chain around the guide bar, ensuring the cutting teeth are facing the correct direction.
- Install Bar and Chain: Align the guide bar and chain assembly with the drive sprocket on the saw head. Ensure the chain is properly seated in the sprocket and the bar's slot aligns with the mounting studs.
- Secure Cover and Adjust Tension: Place the side cover over the bar and chain assembly. Engage the tool-free tensioning knob by rotating it to secure the cover and adjust the chain tension. The chain should be snug but still able to be pulled freely by hand.
- Connect Pole Sections: Insert the upper pole section into the lower pole section, aligning the internal keyways. Push firmly until the locking button snaps into place.
- Attach Shoulder Strap: Secure the shoulder strap to the designated attachment points on the pole. This helps distribute the weight during operation.
- Adjust Pole Length: Extend the pole to the desired length by loosening the locking collar, pulling the inner pole section out, and then tightening the collar securely.
- Adjust Cutting Head Angle: Press the angle adjustment button on the saw head and pivot the head to the desired cutting angle (up to 40°). Release the button to lock the angle.
- Connect Power Cord: Securely connect the pole saw's power cord to a suitable extension cord, utilizing the built-in cable lock to prevent accidental disconnection.

4. Operation
Before operating, ensure all safety instructions are understood and followed. Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
Starting and Stopping:
- To start the pole saw, press the safety lock button and then squeeze the trigger.
- To stop the pole saw, release the trigger.
Cutting Techniques:
- Branch Selection: Identify the branches to be cut. Plan your cuts to ensure the branch falls safely and does not cause damage or injury.
- Undercut First: For larger branches, make a small undercut on the underside of the branch first. This prevents the branch from splitting and peeling bark when the main cut is made.
- Main Cut: Position the saw on top of the branch, slightly further out from the undercut. Apply steady, even pressure. Allow the saw to do the work; do not force it.
- Angle Adjustment: Utilize the 40° adjustable head to achieve optimal cutting angles for different branch positions.
- Clearance: Ensure the area below the branch is clear of people and obstacles before making a cut.

5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your pole saw.
Chain Lubrication:
- The pole saw features an automatic lubrication system. Regularly check the oil reservoir and refill with appropriate bar and chain oil when needed. The reservoir has a 3.38 oz capacity.
- Ensure the oil cap is securely tightened after refilling.

Chain Tensioning:
- Check chain tension frequently, especially during initial use and after extended periods of operation.
- Use the tool-free tensioning knob to adjust the chain. Turn the knob clockwise to tighten and counter-clockwise to loosen. The chain should be taut but still allow for slight movement.
Cleaning and Storage:
- After each use, disconnect the power and clean the saw head, bar, and chain to remove sawdust and debris.
- Store the pole saw in a dry, secure location, out of reach of children.
