Protection Features

The AD-808 is built with safety in mind to protect both the device and your vehicle.

  • Reverse-Hookup Protection: Prevents damage to the device if the positive and negative clamps are connected incorrectly. The "REVERSE" LED will illuminate, and a buzzer will sound.
  • Voltage Test Range: The device safely operates within a 4-30V DC range. If the voltage is outside this range, the screen will display 'LO' (for <4V) or 'HI' (for >30V), protecting against over-voltage.

Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and accurate performance of your AUTDER AD-808, follow these simple maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Wipe the device with a soft, dry cloth after each use. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: Store the tester in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Keep it in its original packaging or a protective case to prevent damage.
  • Cable Care: Inspect the cables and clamps regularly for any signs of wear, fraying, or damage. Replace if necessary.
  • Avoid Moisture: Do not expose the device to water or excessive moisture. It is not waterproof.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your AD-808, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Device does not power on:
    • Ensure clamps are securely connected to the correct battery terminals (positive to positive, negative to negative).
    • If using the cigarette lighter adapter, ensure the vehicle's power socket is active.
    • Check if the battery being tested has sufficient voltage (above 4V) to power the device.
  • "REVERSE" LED is on:
    • This indicates incorrect polarity connection. Disconnect immediately and re-attach the clamps to the correct terminals.
  • Display shows "LO" or "HI":
    • "LO" indicates the voltage is below 4V. The battery may be severely discharged or dead.
    • "HI" indicates the voltage is above 30V. This is outside the device's safe operating range.
  • Inaccurate readings:
    • Ensure connections are clean and free of corrosion.
    • Verify the correct voltage mode (12V or 24V) is selected for your battery.
    • If using the cigarette lighter, note that readings might be slightly lower than direct battery terminal readings.
