1. Introduction

4. Setup and First Use

4.1 Unpacking

1. Carefully remove all packaging materials and labels from the coffee maker.

4.2 Initial Cleaning

1. Wash the glass carafe, portafilter, filter basket, and drip tray in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Making Espresso

1. Ensure the machine is primed and the water tank is filled with fresh, cold water.
2. Add desired amount of finely ground coffee to the filter basket using the measuring spoon. Do not overfill. Lightly tamp the coffee down.
3. Insert the filter basket into the portafilter and attach the portafilter to the machine, turning it firmly to the right until secure.
4. Place the glass carafe on the drip tray.
5. Turn the control knob to the 'Brew' position (coffee cup symbol). The machine will begin to brew espresso.
6. Once the desired amount of espresso is brewed (up to 4 cups), turn the control knob to the 'Off' position.
7. Carefully remove the portafilter and discard the used coffee grounds.

5.2 Frothing Milk for Cappuccinos and Lattes

1. Fill a small pitcher with cold milk (dairy or non-dairy) to about one-third full.
2. Ensure the water tank has sufficient water.
3. Turn the control knob to the 'Steam' position (steam symbol). Wait for the indicator light to show the machine has reached steaming temperature.
4. Position the steam wand just below the surface of the milk in the pitcher.
5. Slowly lower the pitcher, allowing the steam wand to draw air into the milk, creating foam. Move the pitcher up and down to incorporate air evenly.
6. Once the milk is frothed to your desired consistency and temperature, turn the control knob to the 'Off' position.
7. Wipe the steam wand immediately with a damp cloth to prevent milk residue from drying.
8. Combine frothed milk with your freshly brewed espresso.

6. Cleaning and Maintenance

6.1 Daily Cleaning

1. Always unplug the appliance and allow it to cool before cleaning.
2. Remove and empty the drip tray. Wash it with warm, soapy water, rinse, and dry.
3. Remove the portafilter and filter basket. Discard coffee grounds. Wash these parts with warm, soapy water, rinse, and dry.

7. After descaling, run at least two full cycles with fresh, clean water to rinse out any residual descaling solution.
