After assembly, fill the fuel tank with the appropriate fuel mixture (gasoline and 2-cycle oil as per manufacturer's recommendations) and the chain oil tank with suitable chain lubricant. Always use the provided small mouth ratio bottle and funnel for accurate mixing and filling.

5. Operating Instructions

Proper starting and cutting techniques are essential for safe and efficient operation.

5.1 Starting the Chainsaw

There are two primary methods for starting your VEVOR chainsaw: Cold Start and Hot Start.

Diagram illustrating cold start and hot start procedures for the chainsaw. Cold start steps include pressing primer bulb, closing choke, turning on switch, pulling starter rope 5 times, opening choke, and pulling starter rope 3-5 more times. Hot start involves turning on the switch and pulling the starter rope 3-5 times.

Figure 5.1: Step-by-step guide for both cold and hot starting procedures.

Cold Start (25CC Cold Start):

  1. Press the Primer Bulb: Press the primer bulb several times until fuel is visible.
  2. Close the Choke: Move the choke lever to the closed position.
  3. Turn on the Switch: Ensure the engine switch is in the "ON" position.
  4. Pull the Starter Rope (5 times): Pull the starter rope firmly and smoothly about 5 times until the engine briefly fires or attempts to start.
  5. Open the Choke: Move the choke lever to the open position.
  6. Pull the Starter Rope (3-5 times): Pull the starter rope another 3-5 times until the engine starts.

Hot Start:

  1. Turn on the Switch: Ensure the engine switch is in the "ON" position.
  2. Pull the Starter Rope (3-5 times): Pull the starter rope firmly and smoothly 3-5 times until the engine starts.

Note: If the chainsaw does not start after several attempts, check the spark plug. Some users have found that adjusting the spark plug slightly can resolve starting issues. Refer to the Troubleshooting section for more details.

5.2 General Operation

Once started, the chainsaw is ready for use. The 12-inch bar and 25.4CC engine provide ample power for various cutting tasks. The cutting diameter reaches 9.84 inches (250 mm), making it suitable for trimming, felling, and lumber cutting.

Always maintain a stable stance and clear the area of any obstructions before cutting. Apply steady pressure and let the saw do the work. Avoid forcing the chain through wood, as this can lead to kickback or damage to the saw.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your VEVOR chainsaw.

  • Chain Sharpening: A sharp chain is crucial for efficient and safe cutting. Sharpen the chain regularly using the provided red-handled file or a suitable sharpening tool. A dull chain can cause excessive vibration, poor cutting performance, and increased risk of kickback.
  • Chain Tension: Periodically check and adjust the chain tension. Incorrect tension can lead to chain derailment or excessive wear. The tool-free chain tension adjustment knob makes this process convenient.
  • Lubrication: Ensure the chain oil tank is always filled with appropriate chain lubricant. The automatic oiler system lubricates the chain during operation. A 0.17 qt (160ml) chain oil tank capacity allows for extended use between refills.
  • Fuel and Oil Tanks: Regularly check the fuel and chain oil levels. The durable fuel tank is designed to prevent leaks, but always ensure caps are tightened securely.
  • Air Filter: Clean the air filter regularly to maintain optimal engine performance. A clogged air filter can reduce power and increase fuel consumption.
  • Spark Plug: Inspect the spark plug periodically. Clean or replace it if it appears fouled or worn. A high-quality spark plug contributes to easier ignition.
  • General Cleaning: After each use, clean the chainsaw thoroughly, removing sawdust, debris, and oil residue from the bar, chain, and engine housing.

7. Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your chainsaw.

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Chainsaw will not start
  • Incorrect starting procedure (choke, primer)
  • No fuel or incorrect fuel mixture
  • Fouled or improperly gapped spark plug
  • Engine switch off
  • Review "Operating Instructions" (Section 5.1) for cold/hot start.
  • Ensure fuel tank is filled with correct gasoline/oil mixture.

  • Verify engine switch is in the "ON" position.
  • If issues persist, contact customer service.
Bar oil leaks excessively
  • Oil tank cap not tightened securely
  • Chainsaw stored improperly (e.g., on its side)
  • Seal issue (less common)
  • Ensure the oil tank cap is fully tightened.
  • Store the chainsaw upright or with the bar slightly elevated.
  • If leakage continues, inspect the oil tank and cap for damage.
Poor cutting performance / Chain dulls quickly
  • Dull chain
  • Incorrect chain tension
  • Lack of chain lubrication
  • Sharpen the chain using a suitable file.
  • Adjust chain tension as per "Setup and Assembly" (Section 4).
  • Ensure chain oil tank is filled and the oiler is functioning.
Engine stalls or runs rough
  • Clogged air filter
  • Improper fuel mixture
  • Spark plug issue
  • Clean or replace the air filter.
  • Verify correct fuel/oil ratio.
