- Cycling the Aquarium: Allow the aquarium to run for at least 24-48 hours before introducing fish. This allows the water temperature to stabilize and the filter to begin establishing beneficial bacteria. Consult an aquatic pet store for information on proper aquarium cycling.
- Introduce Fish: Once the aquarium is cycled and water parameters are stable, you may introduce fish. Acclimate new fish slowly to the aquarium water.

Filtration System
The Tetra Internal Filtration System operates continuously to maintain water quality. Ensure the filter is always submerged when running. The filter provides mechanical filtration to remove debris and chemical filtration with Ultra-Activated Carbon to reduce odors and discoloration.
Maintenance
Filter Cartridge Replacement
Replace the Tetra Whisper Bio-Bag Filter Cartridge approximately every 2-4 weeks, or sooner if water flow is significantly reduced or the cartridge appears heavily soiled. Always unplug the filter before performing maintenance.
Water Changes
Perform partial water changes (25% of the tank volume) weekly or bi-weekly to maintain optimal water quality. Always use a water conditioner to treat new tap water before adding it to the aquarium.
Aquarium Cleaning
Regularly clean the inside glass of the aquarium to remove algae buildup. Use an aquarium-safe cleaning tool. Avoid using household cleaners or chemicals.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Filter is noisy or not flowing water | Clogged filter cartridge, air in pump, impeller obstruction, low water level. | Replace filter cartridge. Ensure water level is adequate. Clean impeller. Prime the filter if necessary. |
| Water is cloudy | New tank syndrome (bacterial bloom), overfeeding, insufficient filtration, dirty filter cartridge. | Perform a partial water change. Reduce feeding. Replace filter cartridge. Ensure proper aquarium cycling. |
| LED lights not working | Power connection issue, faulty light unit. | Check power connections. Ensure switch is in the correct position. Contact manufacturer if unit is faulty. |
