Setup Instructions

  1. Unpack and Inspect: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Inspect for any damage. Do not discard packaging until the aquarium is fully assembled and operational.
  2. Rinse Components: Rinse the aquarium, hood, and filter components thoroughly with clean, cool water. Do not use soap or detergents, as residues can be harmful to fish.
  3. Install Filter Cartridge: Insert the Medium Tetra® Whisper® Bio-Bag® Cartridge into the designated slot within the integrated filtration system. Ensure it is seated correctly.
  4. Place Aquarium: Select a flat, sturdy surface for your aquarium that can support its full weight when filled (approximately 30 lbs). Avoid direct sunlight or heat sources.
  5. Add Substrate and Decor (Optional): If desired, add a thin layer of aquarium gravel (recommended 1 lb per gallon) and any GloFish-compatible decorations or plants to each compartment. Rinse gravel and decor before adding.
  6. Fill with Water: Carefully fill the aquarium with dechlorinated water up to the recommended fill line. Use a water conditioner to remove chlorine and chloramines from tap water.
  7. Install Hood and Light: Place the hood securely on top of the aquarium. Connect the LED light and pump power cords to a power outlet. Ensure a drip loop is formed with the cords to prevent water from reaching the outlet.
  8. Start Filtration: Plug in the filter pump. Water should begin circulating through the filtration system.
  9. Cycle the Aquarium: Before adding fish, it is crucial to cycle the aquarium to establish beneficial bacteria. This process can take several weeks. Consult a reliable guide on aquarium cycling for detailed instructions.
  10. Add Fish: Once the aquarium is properly cycled and water parameters are stable, you may introduce your GloFish Betta fish. Introduce one male Betta per compartment.
