2. Key Features

  • Lightweight and Compact Design: Weighing 2.2kg (with BSL1240M battery), the saw is easy to handle, reducing user fatigue during extended operation.
  • 18V Equivalent Cutting Speed: Equipped with a small, high-efficiency brushless motor and a standard Super Chip Saw Kuroshachi (125mm), it achieves cutting speeds comparable to 18V models, offering approximately 20% faster cutting than conventional products under specific conditions (wood cross-cutting, SPF 2x10 material, 20N pressing load).
  • Optimized Handle Angle: The 28° handle angle provides improved workability, making it easier to apply force, especially when cutting thin materials.
  • Low Vibration and Low Noise: Designed for reduced vibration and noise, enhancing user comfort and making it suitable for various work environments, including indoors and residential areas.
  • Improved Switch Lock Operability: A tapered switch lock button design makes it easier to press and operate.
  • High-Brightness LED Light: Integrated LED light illuminates the cutting area for improved visibility.
  • Kickback Reduction System: Helps to mitigate kickback during operation. Users must ensure materials are securely fixed and the tool is held firmly.
  • New Parallelism Adjustment Link Structure: Allows for smooth vertical adjustment of the base, ensuring precise cuts.
  • Blower Function: Clears sawdust from the cutting line, maintaining visibility and accuracy.
  • Edge Cutting Function: The sub-base can be removed to enable reverse 15° edge cutting.

4. Safety Information

Always follow basic safety precautions to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and personal injury when using power tools. Read all instructions carefully before operation.

  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, hearing protection, and gloves.
  • Ensure the workpiece is securely clamped or held to prevent movement during cutting.
  • Keep hands and body clear of the cutting blade.
  • Do not operate the saw in damp or wet conditions.
  • Always disconnect the battery pack before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing the tool.
  • Use only HiKOKI recommended accessories and replacement parts.

5. Setup

5.1 Battery Installation and Removal

  1. To install the battery, align the battery pack with the receptacle on the saw and slide it in until it clicks into place.
  2. To remove the battery, press the battery release button and slide the battery pack out.

5.2 Blade Installation and Removal

  1. Ensure the battery is removed before changing the blade.
  2. Press the spindle lock button to secure the blade.
  3. Use the hex wrench to loosen the blade bolt.
  4. Remove the outer flange and the old blade.
  5. Install the new 125mm Super Chip Saw Kuroshachi blade, ensuring the teeth are pointing in the direction of rotation.
  6. Replace the outer flange and tighten the blade bolt securely with the hex wrench while holding the spindle lock.

5.3 Adjusting Cutting Depth and Bevel Angle

  1. Cutting Depth: Loosen the depth adjustment lever, raise or lower the base to the desired cutting depth, and then tighten the lever.
  2. Bevel Angle: Loosen the bevel adjustment lever, tilt the saw base to the desired angle (up to 45°), and then tighten the lever.

6. Operation

6.1 Starting and Stopping the Saw

  1. To start the saw, press the switch lock button and then pull the trigger switch.
  2. To stop the saw, release the trigger switch.

6.2 General Cutting Techniques

  1. Mark your cutting line clearly on the workpiece.
  2. Position the saw with the blade just above the workpiece, aligning the blade with the cutting line.
  3. Start the saw and allow the blade to reach full speed before engaging the material.
  4. Maintain a steady, even pressure and feed rate through the material. Avoid forcing the saw.
  5. Ensure proper support for the workpiece to prevent pinching the blade or kickback.

6.3 Using the Blower Function and Edge Cutting

  • The integrated blower function automatically clears sawdust from the cutting line during operation.
  • For edge cutting (reverse 15°), remove the sub-base as described in the manual. This allows for cuts closer to edges or walls.
