VAYALT DC 12V 41.6A 500W Switching Power Supply User Manual

Model: 12V-500W

Introduction

Thank you for choosing the VAYALT DC 12V 41.6A 500W Switching Power Supply. This device is designed to convert AC input voltage (110V/220V) to a stable 12V DC output, suitable for a wide range of electronic applications. Please read this manual thoroughly before installation and operation to ensure safe and efficient use.

This power supply features a robust design with multiple safety protections and an efficient cooling system to ensure reliable performance and extended lifespan.

Safety Precautions

WARNING: This unit contains high voltage. Installation and wiring should only be performed by qualified personnel. Ensure the power supply is disconnected from the main power source before any installation or maintenance work.

  • Do not open the casing. There are no user-serviceable parts inside.
  • Ensure proper grounding to prevent electrical shock.
  • Do not expose the unit to moisture or extreme temperatures.
  • Verify input voltage selection (115V/230V) matches your local power grid before connecting. Incorrect selection can damage the unit.
  • Ensure the total power consumption of connected devices does not exceed 500W. For resistive loads, the power supply peak power should be at least 1.25 times the device power. For motor equipment, it needs to exceed twice the motor power. Variable speed motors are not applicable.

Setup Instructions

1. Input Voltage Selection

  1. Locate the red switch on the side of the power supply.
  2. Slide the switch to the appropriate voltage setting for your region:
    • 115V: For North America (US/CA) and other regions using 110V-120V AC.
    • 230V: For Europe (EU) and other regions using 220V-240V AC.
  3. Ensure this selection is made before connecting the power supply to the AC mains.

2. Wiring Connections

The power supply features clearly labeled terminals for AC input and DC output.

  • AC Input: Connect your AC power cord to the designated AC INPUT terminals (L, N, and Ground). Ensure secure connections.
  • DC Output: Connect your 12V DC devices to the DC OUTPUT terminals. There are multiple terminals for positive (+V) and negative (-V) connections. Ensure correct polarity (+ to +, - to -).
  • Use appropriate gauge wires for your application to prevent overheating.

3. Adjusting Output Voltage (V-ADJ)

The output voltage can be fine-tuned within ±10% of 12V. Use a small screwdriver to carefully turn the 'V-ADJ' potentiometer located near the output terminals. Monitor the output voltage with a multimeter while adjusting to achieve the desired voltage.

Operating Instructions

  1. After completing all wiring and voltage selection, connect the power supply to the AC mains.
  2. Turn on the main power switch on the unit. The LED indicator light should illuminate, indicating the unit is powered on.
  3. The internal cooling fan will activate automatically when the internal temperature reaches a certain level to maintain optimal operating conditions.
  4. To power off, turn off the main power switch and disconnect from the AC mains.

Maintenance

Cooling System

The power supply is equipped with a smart cooling fan and multiple ventilation holes. To ensure efficient heat dissipation and prolong the lifespan of the unit:

  • Ensure adequate airflow around the power supply. Do not block the ventilation holes.
  • Periodically check for dust accumulation on the fan and ventilation grilles. Clean gently with compressed air if necessary, ensuring the unit is powered off and disconnected.
