4. Setup
4.1 Battery Installation
The iM30 flash is powered by two AAA batteries. Ensure batteries are inserted with correct polarity.
- Locate the battery compartment on the side of the flash unit.
- Slide open the battery compartment cover.
- Insert two AAA batteries, matching the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals as indicated inside the compartment.
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.

4.2 Mounting on Camera
The iM30 features a single-contact hot shoe design for broad compatibility.
- Slide the flash unit onto your camera's hot shoe mount until it clicks into place.
- Ensure the flash is securely attached to prevent accidental detachment.
Note:
- The iM30 is compatible with most mirrorless and film cameras featuring a single-contact hot shoe.
- It is not compatible with cameras lacking a hot shoe mount.
- Specific compatibility notes: Not compatible with Sony ZV1-F, A9III, A99, A77, A350, Zv1 Mark 2; Not compatible with Canon 3000D, 1500D, 200DII, R7, R6II, R8, R10, R50; Not compatible with FUJI X-A3, X100F, X100T.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Powering On/Off
To power on the flash, press and hold the power button until the indicator light illuminates. To power off, press and hold the power button again.
5.2 Adjusting Flash Power Levels
The iM30 offers 7 adjustable power levels, from 1/64 to 1/1 (full power).
- Turn the dial on the top of the flash unit to select your desired power output.
- The selected power level will be indicated on the dial.

5.3 Optical Control (S1/S2 Modes)
The iM30 supports S1 and S2 optical slave modes, allowing it to be triggered by another flash unit.
- S1 Mode: The flash will fire in response to the first flash from a master flash. This is suitable for manual flash environments.
- S2 Mode: The flash will ignore the pre-flash from a TTL master flash and fire in response to the main flash. This is useful for cameras that use a pre-flash to measure exposure.
5.4 Flash Ready Indicator
The indicator light on the flash unit will turn green when the flash is fully recharged and ready to fire. The recharge time varies depending on the selected power level; lower power settings result in faster recharge times.
6. Maintenance
- Keep the flash unit dry. Do not handle with wet hands.
- Clean the flash surface with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
- Remove batteries if the flash will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.
- Store the unit in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
7. Troubleshooting
7.1 Flash Not Firing
- Ensure batteries are correctly installed and have sufficient charge.
- Check that the flash is securely mounted on the camera's hot shoe.
- Verify that the camera's flash settings are configured to trigger an external flash.
- Wait for the flash ready indicator to turn green before attempting to fire.
7.2 Inconsistent Flash Output
- Ensure the selected power level is appropriate for your shooting conditions.
- Check battery levels; low batteries can affect flash consistency.
- If using optical slave modes (S1/S2), ensure the master flash is firing consistently and the iM30's sensor is unobstructed.
