4. Installation
The Yale Assure Lock 2 is designed for easy DIY installation, typically requiring only a screwdriver. Ensure your door meets the following specifications:
- Door Thickness: 1-3/8" to 2-1/4" (35mm to 57mm)
- Borehole: 2-1/8" or 1-1/2" (54mm or 38mm)
- Backset: 2-3/8" or 2-3/4" (60mm or 70mm)
Steps:
- Remove Existing Deadbolt: Unscrew and remove your current deadbolt from the door.
- Install New Deadbolt Latch: Insert the new deadbolt latch into the door edge. Ensure the "UP" arrow on the latch is facing upwards.
- Install Exterior Keypad: Place the exterior touchscreen keypad onto the door, aligning the tailpiece through the latch.
- Install Interior Mounting Plate: Secure the interior mounting plate to the door using the provided screws, ensuring the cable from the keypad passes through the plate.
- Connect Cable and Install Interior Assembly: Connect the cable from the exterior keypad to the interior assembly. Carefully tuck the excess wire into the channel. Attach the interior assembly to the mounting plate, securing it with screws.
- Install Batteries: Insert the 4 AA batteries into the battery compartment.
- Install Strike Plate and DoorSense Sensor: Replace your old strike plate with the new one. Install the Yale DoorSense® sensor into the door frame, ensuring it aligns with the interior assembly.

5. Setup
After physical installation, set up your lock using the Yale Access app.
- Download the Yale Access App: Search for "Yale Access" in your smartphone's app store and download it.
- Create an Account: Follow the in-app instructions to create a new account or log in if you already have one.
- Add Your Lock: In the app, select "Set up a new device" and choose your Yale Assure Lock 2.

- Calibrate DoorSense: The app will guide you through calibrating the DoorSense sensor to accurately detect if your door is open or closed.

- Create Master Entry Code: Establish a master entry code for the touchscreen keypad. This code is required for programming other user codes.
- Add User Codes: Create unique entry codes for family members or guests through the Yale Access app. You can set schedules and temporary access for these codes.


6. Operating Instructions
Your Yale Assure Lock 2 offers multiple ways to lock and unlock your door.
6.1. Using the Touchscreen Keypad
- To Unlock: Touch the keypad with your palm or fingers to activate it. Enter your 4-8 digit entry code, then press the checkmark (✓) button. The deadbolt will retract.
- To Lock: Touch the keypad with your palm or fingers to activate it. Press the Yale button. The deadbolt will extend.

6.2. Using the Yale Access App
With the Yale Access app and Wi-Fi Connect Bridge, you can control your lock from anywhere.
- To Unlock/Lock: Open the Yale Access app, select your lock, and tap the lock/unlock icon.
- Auto-Lock: Enable Auto-Lock in the app settings. The lock will automatically engage after a set time (e.g., 30 seconds) when DoorSense detects the door is closed.
- Auto-Unlock: Enable Auto-Unlock in the app. The lock will automatically unlock as you approach your door when your phone is detected.
- Activity Feed: View a history of lock and unlock events, including who accessed the door and when.

6.3. Using the Physical Key
For models with a physical key, it serves as a backup in case of battery depletion or system malfunction.
- Insert the key into the keyhole on the exterior keypad.
- Turn the key to lock or unlock the deadbolt.

7. Maintenance
7.1. Battery Replacement
The lock requires 4 AA batteries. When batteries are low, the lock will provide an audible alert and a notification in the Yale Access app.
- Remove the battery cover from the interior assembly.
- Remove the old batteries and insert new 4 AA alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity.
- Replace the battery cover.
- Note: After battery replacement, the lock may require recalibration via the Yale Access app to ensure proper DoorSense functionality.
