5. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps to install the expansion board into your Bromic On/Off or Dimmer controller:

  1. Disconnect Power: Ensure the main power supply to the Bromic controller is completely disconnected at the circuit breaker before beginning installation.
  2. Open Controller Housing: Carefully open the housing of your Bromic On/Off or Dimmer controller according to its specific manual.
  3. Position Expansion Board: Align the Bromic Affinity Smart Heat Expansion Board within the designated slot inside the controller housing. The board is designed for a snug fit and requires no additional power source.
  4. Secure Board: Use the two provided mounting screws to securely fasten the expansion board in place.
  5. Connect Ethernet (Optional): If using Ethernet connectivity, connect an Ethernet cable from your network to the Ethernet port on the expansion board.
  6. Connect 0-10V BMS (Optional): If integrating with a BMS or home automation system, connect the 0-10V control wires to the integrated 0-10V terminal block on the expansion board. Refer to your BMS/automation system's documentation for specific wiring diagrams.
  7. Install Jumper Cable: Locate the designated pins for the blue jumper cable on the main controller board. Connect the blue jumper cable to these pins. This action activates the BMS feature and disables the Bromic Smart Heat app control.
  8. Close Housing: Carefully close and secure the controller housing.
  9. Restore Power: Reconnect the main power supply to the Bromic controller at the circuit breaker.

6. Operation

Once the Bromic Affinity Smart Heat Expansion Board is installed and the blue jumper cable is in place, control of your heating system will be transferred to your integrated Building Management System (BMS) or home automation system. The Bromic Smart Heat mobile application will be disabled.

  • BMS/Automation Control: Use your connected BMS or home automation interface to manage heating zones, adjust temperature settings, and schedule operations. The 0-10V input allows for proportional control of heater output, while Ethernet provides network-based command and monitoring.
  • App Disablement: The blue jumper cable ensures that the expansion board takes precedence, preventing conflicts with the mobile app. To re-enable app control, the jumper cable must be removed, and the expansion board disconnected.
