Setup and Installation

The hiencetec YL-58 lock is designed for easy DIY installation. A screwdriver is typically the only tool required. Ensure your door meets the specified dimensions for thickness and backset.

  1. Prepare the Door: Ensure your door has the correct bore holes and backset. The lock fits both 2-3/8" (60mm) and 2-1/8" (70mm) backsets. Adjust the latch mechanism if necessary.
  2. Install the Latch: Insert the latch into the door edge. Ensure the beveled side of the latch faces the outside of the door. Secure it with screws.
  3. Install the Exterior Handle: Feed the spindle and power cable through the latch and door hole. Position the exterior handle flush against the door.
  4. Install the Interior Handle: Connect the power cable from the exterior handle to the interior handle. Align the interior handle with the spindle and mounting posts. Secure with screws.
  5. Install Batteries: Open the battery cover on the interior handle. Insert 4 AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity. Close the battery cover.
  6. Test Installation: After installation, test the mechanical operation of the handle and latch before programming.

Operating Instructions

1. Initial Setup and Administrator Fingerprint/Passcode

Upon first power-up, the lock will be in factory default mode. You must set an administrator fingerprint or passcode first.

  • To Add Administrator Fingerprint: Press the fingerprint sensor. When prompted, place your finger on the sensor multiple times until successful.
  • To Add Administrator Passcode: Press any key on the keypad, then enter your desired 6-8 digit passcode followed by '#'. Repeat to confirm.

Note: The first registered fingerprint or passcode will automatically be set as the administrator.

2. Adding User Fingerprints/Passcodes

After setting up the administrator, you can add up to 19 additional user fingerprints and 14 user passcodes.

  • To Add User Fingerprint: Activate the lock (e.g., by touching the keypad), then use the administrator fingerprint to enter programming mode. Follow the voice prompts to add new fingerprints.
  • To Add User Passcode: Activate the lock, then use the administrator passcode to enter programming mode. Follow the voice prompts to add new passcodes.

3. Unlocking the Door

  • Fingerprint Unlock: Place a registered finger on the fingerprint sensor. The lock will unlock if the fingerprint is recognized.
  • Passcode Unlock: Enter a registered passcode on the keypad, then press '#'. The lock will unlock if the passcode is correct.
  • Physical Key Unlock: Insert the physical key into the keyhole and turn to unlock. This is for emergency access.

4. Locking the Door

The lock will automatically lock after 3 seconds of closing the door. You can also manually lock it by lifting the handle from the outside or inside.

5. Special Modes

  • Silent Mode: To enable or disable silent mode, refer to the programming instructions in the full manual. In silent mode, the lock will not beep when keys are pressed or when unlocking.
  • Passage Mode: This mode keeps the door unlocked for continuous access. Ideal for periods when the door needs to remain open or frequently accessed. Refer to the full manual for activation/deactivation steps.
  • Anti-Peeping Passcode: When entering your passcode, you can input random numbers before or after your actual passcode to prevent others from guessing it. For example, if your passcode is 123456, you can enter 987123456000.

Maintenance

  • Battery Replacement: The lock uses 4 AAA batteries. When the batteries are low, the lock will emit 7 beeps and the indicator light will blink red. Replace all four batteries promptly. Do not mix old and new batteries.
  • Cleaning: Wipe the lock surface with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the finish or electronic components.
  • Fingerprint Sensor Care: Keep the fingerprint sensor clean and dry for optimal performance.

Troubleshooting
