3. Setup

3.1. NT201 OBD2 Scanner Setup

  1. Locate the vehicle's 16-pin Data Link Connector (DLC). This is usually located under the dashboard on the driver's side.
  2. Ensure the vehicle's ignition is in the OFF position.
  3. Connect the NT201's OBDII cable to the vehicle's DLC.
  4. Turn the vehicle's ignition to the ON position (engine off). The scanner will power on automatically.

3.2. BT301 Battery Tester Setup

  1. Ensure the vehicle's ignition is OFF and all accessories are turned off.
  2. Connect the red positive (+) clamp of the BT301 to the positive (+) terminal of the battery.
  3. Connect the black negative (-) clamp of the BT301 to the negative (-) terminal of the battery.
  4. The BT301 will power on automatically once connected correctly.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1. NT201 OBD2 Scanner Operation

The NT201 provides various diagnostic functions. Navigate through the menus using the UP/DOWN arrows and confirm selections with the ENTER button.

  • Read Codes: Displays current, pending, and historic Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
  • Erase Codes: Clears DTCs from the vehicle's computer and turns off the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL). Note: Ensure the underlying issue is resolved before clearing codes.
  • Live Data: Shows real-time data stream from the vehicle's sensors.
  • I/M Readiness: Checks the status of emission-related monitors to determine if the vehicle is ready for an emissions test.
  • View Freeze Frame: Displays a snapshot of vehicle operating conditions at the time an emission-related fault occurred.
  • Vehicle Information: Retrieves the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), Calibration ID (CALID), and Calibration Verification Number (CVN).

4.2. BT301 Battery Tester Operation

The BT301 offers comprehensive battery analysis. Use the MENU, VOLT, BACK, and ENTER buttons to navigate and select tests.

  • Battery Test: Evaluates the overall health of the battery, including voltage, CCA (Cold Cranking Amps), and internal resistance.
  • Cranking Test: Measures the actual cranking voltage and cranking time to determine if the battery has sufficient power to start the engine.
  • Charging Test: Checks the vehicle's charging system, including the alternator and voltage regulator, to ensure proper charging voltage.
  • SOC Test: Determines the State of Charge of the battery.
  • SOH Test: Determines the State of Health of the battery.

5. Maintenance
