4. Installation Guide

This doorbell requires existing doorbell wiring for power. It is designed for outdoor use and is weatherproof.

4.1 Pre-installation Checklist

  • Verify you have existing doorbell wires (16-24V AC).
  • Ensure you have 2.4GHz or 5GHz Wi-Fi coverage at your installation location.
  • Gather necessary tools: screwdriver, drill (if using screws), and a pencil.

4.2 Physical Mounting

The doorbell can be mounted using either screws or adhesive tape (if provided with your model).

  1. Turn off power to your existing doorbell system at the circuit breaker.
  2. Remove your existing doorbell button.
  3. Position the doorbell's mounting plate at the desired height and mark the screw holes.
  4. For screw mounting: Drill pilot holes, insert anchors, and secure the mounting plate with screws.
  5. For adhesive mounting: Ensure the surface is clean and dry. Apply the adhesive strips to the back of the mounting plate and firmly press it onto the wall.

4.3 Wiring Connection

Connect the existing doorbell wires to the terminals on the back of the Energizer Smart Doorbell.

  1. Loosen the terminal screws on the back of the doorbell.
  2. Connect the two existing doorbell wires to the terminal screws. It does not matter which wire connects to which screw.
  3. Tighten the terminal screws to secure the wires.
  4. Carefully tuck any excess wiring into the wall cavity.
  5. Attach the doorbell unit to the mounting plate by sliding it down until it clicks securely into place.

4.4 App Integration

Download the Energizer Connect app from your smartphone's app store and follow the in-app instructions to connect your doorbell to your Wi-Fi network.

  1. Download and install the 'Energizer Connect' app.
  2. Create an account or log in.
  3. Tap 'Add Device' and select your doorbell model.
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts to connect the doorbell to your 2.4GHz or 5GHz Wi-Fi network.
  5. Once connected, you can access live view and settings.

A 30-day free trial of cloud storage is included, allowing you to access your video footage from anywhere with an internet connection. After the trial, subscription options may be available.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your doorbell, try the following steps:

  • No Power: Ensure the circuit breaker for your doorbell wiring is on and that wires are securely connected.
  • Wi-Fi Connection Issues: Check your Wi-Fi signal strength at the doorbell's location. Ensure your router is broadcasting on 2.4GHz or 5GHz and that the password is correct. Try restarting your router.
  • Motion Detection Not Working: Verify that motion detection is enabled in the app and that activity zones are correctly configured. Adjust sensitivity settings if needed.
  • Poor Video Quality: Check your Wi-Fi connection speed. Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from obstructions.
  • App Not Responding: Close and reopen the Energizer Connect app. If the issue persists, try restarting your smartphone.
