Setup
Battery Installation
The HT123 Multimeter requires 2 AAA batteries (not included).
- Remove the protective rubber sleeve from the multimeter.
- Open the battery back cover.
- Insert 2 AAA batteries into the battery compartment, ensuring correct polarity as marked.
- Replace the battery cover and the protective rubber sleeve.
Initial Calibration
After battery installation:
- Turn on the multimeter using the Power Key.
- Insert the test leads into the COM (black) and INPUT (red) sockets according to the prompts.
- Briefly touch the two ends of the test leads together to allow the multimeter to calibrate.
Operating Instructions
The HT123 features auto-ranging, simplifying measurements as it automatically selects the correct range.
Measuring AC/DC Voltage, Resistance, or Continuity
- Ensure the multimeter is powered on.
- Insert the black test lead into the COM socket and the red test lead into the INPUT socket.
- Connect the test leads to both ends of the object you wish to measure. The multimeter will automatically detect the type of measurement (AC/DC voltage, resistance, or continuity) and display the reading.

Figure 2: Working Show. This image illustrates the HT123 multimeter performing various measurements: Home 220V AC voltage, Direct current voltage, Resistance measurement, Continuity, NCV (Non-Contact Voltage), and Neutral line and live line measurement.

Figure 3: Home AC Voltage Measurement. This image shows the HT123 multimeter connected to a wall outlet, displaying an AC voltage reading. The normal voltage range is 198V-240V, and a measured value of 220V indicates accurate measurement.
Non-Contact Voltage (NCV) Function
The NCV function allows for safe detection of AC voltage without direct contact with wires. Test leads are not required for this function.
- Press the "Hold / NCV" key to activate the NCV mode.
- Move the top part of the multimeter (NCV induction area) close to the conductor you suspect has AC voltage.
- Weak Electric Field: If a weak electric field is detected, the display will show "---L", the backlight will turn on, and the buzzer will sound slowly.
- Strong Electric Field: If a strong electric field is detected, the display will show "---H", the backlight will turn on, the buzzer will sound quickly, and the red indicator light will turn on.

Figure 4: Non-Contact AC Voltage Detection. This image demonstrates the NCV function, showing how the multimeter indicates the presence of AC voltage with visual and audible alerts. It illustrates the display and light indicators for both weak and strong electric fields.

Figure 5: Key Features and NCV Function. This image highlights several features of the HT123, including its 4000 counts display, AC/DC voltage measurement, resistance, continuity, data hold, auto-range capability, and the NCV function with visual indicators for low and high voltage detection.
Data Hold Function
To freeze the current reading on the display, press the "Hold / NCV" key briefly during a measurement. Press it again to release the hold and resume live readings.
Backlight and Flashlight
Press the "Backlight / Flashlight" key to turn on the LCD backlight for improved visibility in dim conditions. Press and hold the same key to activate the built-in flashlight.
