4.2 Sensor Pairing and Placement

Once batteries are installed in both the base station and the wireless sensors, the sensors will automatically attempt to connect to the base station.

  • Place the base station in a central location within your home where you wish to monitor the indoor climate.
  • Position the wireless sensors in the desired locations (e.g., living room, bedroom, bathroom, cellar, outdoor sheltered area). Ensure they are within the 80-meter transmission range of the base station.
  • Avoid placing sensors near heat sources, direct sunlight, or in areas with high electromagnetic interference, as this can affect accuracy and signal transmission.

5. Operation

5.1 Display Overview

The main unit's large display shows temperature and humidity for the integrated sensor ("IN") and the three wireless sensors (Channels 1, 2, 3).

Figure 5: Detailed view of the main unit's display, showing readings for four channels.

  • Channel Indicator (1, 2, 3, IN): Identifies the measurement source. "IN" is the integrated sensor.
  • Temperature: Displayed in large digits (°C or °F).
  • Humidity: Displayed as a percentage (%).
  • Temperature Trend: An arrow indicates if the temperature is rising, falling, or stable.
  • Comfort Indicator: A smiley symbol provides a quick visual assessment of the indoor climate.

5.2 Comfort Indicator (Smiley)

The comfort indicator helps you quickly assess the current indoor climate based on temperature and humidity levels.

  • 😊 Smiling Face: Indicates a comfortable climate (optimal temperature and humidity).
  • 😐 Neutral Face: Indicates a slightly less than ideal climate, but still acceptable.
  • 🙁 Sad Face: Indicates an uncomfortable climate (too dry, too humid, too hot, or too cold), which may contribute to mold formation or discomfort.

5.3 Min/Max Memory

The device automatically records the minimum and maximum temperature and humidity values for each channel since the last reset.

  • Press the MIN/MAX button (usually located on the side or back of the base station) to cycle through current, maximum, and minimum readings for each channel.
  • To reset the Min/Max values, press and hold the MIN/MAX button for a few seconds until the values clear.

5.4 High/Low Alarms

You can set customizable high and low alarms for temperature and humidity to be notified when values exceed or fall below your set thresholds.

  • Refer to the specific button on your base station (often labeled "ALERT" or "ALARM") and follow the on-screen prompts to set your desired high and low limits for each channel.
  • An audible alert or flashing icon will indicate when a threshold is crossed.

5.5 Temperature Unit Selection (°C/°F)

To switch between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F), locate the °C/°F button (usually on the back or side of the base station) and press it. The display will update accordingly.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Battery Replacement

When the battery indicator appears on the display, it is time to replace the batteries.

  • For the base station, replace the 2x AAA batteries as described in Section 4.1.
  • For each wireless sensor, replace the 2x AAA batteries as described in Section 4.1.
  • Always replace all batteries in a unit at the same time with new ones. Do not mix old and new batteries.
  • Dispose of used batteries responsibly according to local regulations.

6.2 Cleaning

To clean the device and sensors:

  • Wipe the surfaces with a soft, damp cloth.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these may damage the display or casing.
  • Ensure no water enters the battery compartments or other openings.

7. Troubleshooting

  • No display on base station/sensors:

Check battery polarity and ensure batteries are new and correctly inserted. Replace batteries if necessary.

  • No readings from wireless sensors / Signal loss:

    • Ensure wireless sensors are within the 80m transmission range of the base station.
    • Check for obstructions between the sensors and the base station (e.g., thick walls, large metal objects).
    • Replace batteries in both the base station and the wireless sensors.
    • Temporarily move sensors closer to the base station to re-establish connection.
    • Avoid placing sensors near electronic devices that may cause interference.

  • Inaccurate readings:

    • Ensure sensors are not exposed to direct sunlight, drafts, or heat sources.
    • Allow the device and sensors to stabilize for at least 30 minutes after setup, especially if moved from a different environment.
    • Compare readings with another known accurate thermometer/hygrometer if available. Note that minor discrepancies (e.g., 0.5°C for temperature, 5-10% for humidity) can occur between different devices.
