Setup

1. Unpack: Carefully remove the shredder from its packaging.
2. Position: Place the shredder on a flat, stable surface. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit.
3. Connect Power: Plug the power cord into a standard electrical outlet.
4. Check Bin: Ensure the 4.2-gallon pull-out waste bin is properly inserted and closed. The shredder will not operate if the bin is not correctly seated.
5. Initial Power On: Slide the control switch to the "AUTO" position. The Power/Bin Full indicator light should turn green, indicating the shredder is ready for use.

Operating Instructions

Shredding Modes

• Auto-Feed Shredding:

  For bulk shredding of paper documents only. Open the auto-feed tray and place up to 100 sheets of paper into the tray. The shredder will automatically detect the paper and begin shredding. The auto-feed mode supports up to 30 minutes of continuous operation, followed by a 40-minute cool-down period.

• Manual Feed Shredding:

  For shredding up to 8 sheets of paper, credit cards, small staples, and paper clips. Insert items into the manual feed slot. The shredder will activate automatically. The manual feed mode supports up to 10 minutes of continuous operation, followed by a 40-minute cool-down period.

Control Switch Positions

• FWD (Forward): Forces the shredder to run continuously forward, useful for clearing minor jams.
• AUTO (Automatic): The default setting for normal operation. The shredder will start automatically when paper is detected and stop when shredding is complete.
• OFF: Turns the shredder off. Always set to OFF when emptying the bin or when the shredder is not in use.
• REV (Reverse): Reverses the shredding mechanism, useful for clearing paper jams.

Maintenance

Emptying the Waste Bin

The shredder features a 4.2-gallon pull-out bin. When the bin is full, the "Power/Bin Full" indicator light will flash green. To empty:

1. Set the control switch to "OFF".
2. Carefully pull out the waste bin.
3. Dispose of the shredded contents.
4. Slide the bin back into place, ensuring it is securely closed. The shredder will not operate if the bin is not properly inserted.

Oiling the Shredder Blades

Regular oiling helps maintain the shredder's performance and extends its lifespan. Use shredder oil specifically designed for paper shredders.

1. Apply a thin line of shredder oil across the paper entry slot.
2. Set the control switch to "FWD" for 2-3 seconds to distribute the oil.
3. Return the switch to "AUTO" or "OFF".
4. Oil the shredder after every 30 minutes of accumulated shredding time or at least once a month.
