4. Operating the Lens
4.1 Focusing
This is a manual focus lens. To achieve sharp focus, rotate the focus ring on the lens barrel until your subject appears clear in the viewfinder or on the camera's LCD screen. The focus scale on the lens barrel indicates the focusing distance in both meters and feet.
4.2 Aperture Control
Adjust the aperture by rotating the aperture ring located on the lens. The F2.8 maximum aperture allows for shooting in low-light conditions and creating smooth background blur (bokeh). The aperture ring provides tactile clicks for precise adjustments between F2.8 and F22.

4.3 Macro Photography (2X Magnification)
The lens offers a 2x magnification ratio, enabling extreme close-up photography. When shooting macro, precise focusing is crucial. Utilize your camera's focus peaking or magnification assist features for optimal results. The high resolution capabilities of this lens ensure every detail is captured.

4.4 Full-Frame and Medium Format Compatibility
This lens is primarily designed for full-frame cameras. When used in medium format mode, slight vignetting may occur at a 2:1 magnification ratio. This vignetting typically disappears when shooting at a 1:1 ratio.
5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning the Lens
- Use a soft, lint-free microfiber cloth specifically designed for optics to gently wipe lens surfaces.
- For stubborn smudges or fingerprints, apply a small amount of lens cleaning solution to the cloth, not directly to the lens element.
- Use a blower brush to remove dust particles before wiping to prevent scratching.
5.2 Storage
- Always attach the front and rear lens caps when the lens is not in use.
- Store the lens in a dry, dust-free environment, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures or humidity.
- Consider using a desiccant packet in your camera bag or storage area to prevent mold and mildew growth, especially in humid climates.
5.3 Handling Precautions
- Handle the lens with care to avoid dropping or subjecting it to strong impacts.
- Do not force any moving parts of the lens.
- Avoid touching the glass elements with bare hands.
6. Troubleshooting
6.1 Vignetting Observed
Issue: Darkening at the corners of images (vignetting).
Solution: This lens may exhibit slight vignetting when used in medium format mode at a 2:1 magnification ratio. This is normal behavior. The vignetting typically disappears when shooting at a 1:1 ratio. Adjust your composition or magnification ratio as needed.
6.2 Unsharp Images
Issue: Images appear blurry or out of focus.
Solution:
- Ensure proper manual focus. Utilize your camera's focus peaking or magnification assist features for critical focus.
- Check that the aperture is set appropriately for your desired depth of field. Wider apertures (smaller f-numbers) result in shallower depth of field.
- Ensure adequate shutter speed to prevent motion blur, especially when shooting handheld.
6.3 Lens Not Mounting Correctly
Issue: The lens does not attach securely to the camera body.
Solution:
- Verify that the lens mount and camera mount are clean and free of obstructions.
- Ensure correct alignment of the red mounting dots on both the lens and camera before rotating the lens clockwise.
- Do not force the lens; if it doesn't click into place easily, re-align and try again.
