Operating Instructions
Pressure and Temperature Measurement
Connect the manifold hoses to the high and low-pressure ports of the HVAC/R system. Open the appropriate valves on the manifold to read system pressures. The display will show real-time pressure readings, along with superheat and subcooling calculations based on connected temperature probes.
Vacuum Measurement
To measure vacuum, connect the vacuum pump to the manifold's vacuum port. Open the vacuum valve and start the pump. The integrated micron gauge will display the vacuum level. Monitor the reading until the desired vacuum is achieved.
System Tightness Test (Nitrogen Pressure Test)
The SM482V features a temperature-compensated nitrogen pressure test. Connect a nitrogen tank to the system via the manifold. Press the "N2 TEST" button to initiate the test. The manifold will record the initial pressure and monitor for pressure differential (Pdif) over time, indicating potential leaks. Press "STOP/EXIT" to end the test.
Data Logging
The manifold can log up to 168 hours of data. To start data logging, refer to the specific instructions in the full user manual or the Job Link System App. Logged data can be retrieved and analyzed via the Job Link App.

Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the unit with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Battery Replacement: Replace batteries when the low battery indicator appears on the display. Always use 6 new AA alkaline batteries.
- Hose and Gasket Inspection: Regularly inspect hoses and manifold gaskets for wear and tear. Replace damaged components to ensure accurate readings and prevent leaks.
- Storage: Store the manifold in its soft case in a dry environment, away from extreme temperatures.
- Firmware Updates: Periodically check the Fieldpiece website or Job Link App for firmware updates to ensure optimal performance and access to new features.

Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Inaccurate Pressure Readings | Uncalibrated sensors, leaky hoses/gaskets, incorrect refrigerant selected. | Perform "ZERO PRESSURE" calibration. Inspect and replace worn hoses or gaskets. Verify correct refrigerant is selected. |
| Vacuum Reading Fluctuations | Moisture in system, internal manifold leak, contaminated hoses. | Ensure system is thoroughly evacuated. Check manifold for internal leaks (refer to service manual). Purge hoses with nitrogen before vacuuming. |
| Display Not Turning On | Dead batteries, incorrect battery installation. | Replace batteries with new ones. Check battery polarity. |
| Wireless Connection Issues | Out of range, interference, un-paired probes. | Ensure manifold and probes are within range (up to 1000ft line of sight). Reduce interference sources. Re-pair probes according to their instructions. |
