Care and Maintenance

Proper care and maintenance will ensure the longevity and appearance of your SMARTSTANDARD Bifold Mirror Closet Doors.

  • Cleaning the Panels: The MDF frame with PVC film surface is scratch-resistant and easy to clean. Use a soft, damp cloth with mild soap and water to wipe down the door panels. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that could damage the finish.
  • Cleaning the Glass: The frosted glass can be cleaned with standard glass cleaner and a soft, lint-free cloth.
  • Track Maintenance: Periodically inspect the top track and rollers for any debris or dust accumulation. Clean the track with a dry cloth or vacuum cleaner to ensure smooth operation. Lubricate rollers with a silicone-based spray if they become stiff.
  • Hardware Check: Regularly check all screws and hardware connections to ensure they are tight. Tighten any loose screws to prevent misalignment or operational issues.
  • Water Resistance: The doors feature water-proof properties, making them suitable for various indoor environments. However, avoid prolonged exposure to excessive moisture.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your bifold doors, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Doors do not slide smoothly:
    • Check the top track for obstructions (dust, debris) and clean if necessary.
    • Ensure rollers are properly seated in the track and not damaged.
    • Apply a silicone lubricant to the rollers and track.
    • Verify that the track is level. Adjust if needed.
  • Doors are misaligned or have a gap at the bottom:
    • Check if the door panels are correctly sized for your opening. The actual panel height is 78 inches for an 80-inch opening, allowing for hardware clearance.
    • Ensure the floor guide is properly installed and aligned.
    • Adjust the door height using the provided wrench (up to 7mm adjustment).
    • Verify that the top track is installed level and securely.
  • Hardware (screws) breaking during installation:
    • Ensure you are using the correct drill bit size for pilot holes before driving screws.
    • Do not overtighten screws.
    • If issues persist, consider using higher-quality screws from a local hardware store.
