1. Introduction

Thank you for purchasing the Tyler Portable CD Player Boombox, Model TAU107. This device offers versatile audio playback options including CD, FM radio, Bluetooth, USB, and AUX input. Designed for ease of use and portability, it delivers clear stereo sound for various listening environments. Please read this manual thoroughly to ensure proper operation and to maximize your listening experience.

3. Product Features

  • Multiple Playback Options: Enjoy music from various sources including CD, USB drives, AUX input, Bluetooth, and FM stereo radio.
  • High-Quality Dual Speakers: The boombox is equipped with dual speakers that deliver clear and powerful audio. Customize your sound with five EQ modes: FLAT, CLASSICAL, JAZZ, ROCK, and POP. Note: Before inserting a CD, ensure the protective cardboard from the lens is removed.
  • FM Radio with Memory Stations: Easily scan and save up to 20 of your preferred FM radio stations for quick access.
  • User-Friendly Design: Features simple controls and supports various CD formats including CD, CD-R/RW, HDCD, WMA, MP3 CDs, and audiobook CDs.
  • AC/Battery Operated: Power the unit using the included AC power cord (100-240 VAC, 50/60 Hz) or for portable use, insert 4 x R14/Size C dry batteries (6 VDC). Batteries are not included.

4. Setup

4.1 Powering the Device

The TAU107 can be powered by AC electricity or batteries for portable use.

  • AC Power: Connect the supplied AC power cord to the AC input jack on the back of the unit and then to a standard wall outlet.
  • Battery Power: Open the battery compartment on the bottom of the unit. Insert 4 x R14/Size C batteries, ensuring correct polarity. Close the compartment securely.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 CD Playback

  1. Open the CD compartment lid.
  2. Place a CD (CD, CD-R/RW, HDCD, WMA, MP3 CD, or audiobook CD) onto the spindle with the label side facing up.
  3. Close the CD compartment lid firmly.
  4. Press the MODE button to select CD mode. The display will show "CD".
  5. Press the PLAY/PAUSE button to begin playback.
  6. Use the PREVIOUS/NEXT buttons to skip tracks.
  7. Adjust the volume using the VOLUME knob.

5.2 FM Radio Operation

  1. Press the MODE button to select FM radio mode. The display will show the FM frequency.
  2. Extend the FM antenna for optimal reception.
  3. Press and hold the SCAN button to automatically scan and save available FM stations. Up to 20 stations can be saved.
  4. Use the PREVIOUS/NEXT buttons to navigate through saved stations.
  5. Adjust the volume using the VOLUME knob.

5.3 Bluetooth Pairing

  1. Press the MODE button to select Bluetooth mode. The display will show "BT" and flash, indicating it's ready for pairing.
  2. On your Bluetooth-enabled device (e.g., smartphone, tablet), enable Bluetooth and search for available devices.
  3. Select "TYLER TAU107" from the list of devices.
  4. Once paired, the "BT" indicator on the boombox will stop flashing and remain solid. You can now stream audio from your device.
  5. Adjust the volume using the VOLUME knob on the boombox or your connected device.

5.4 USB Playback

  1. Insert a USB flash drive into the USB-A port on the front of the boombox.
  2. Press the MODE button to select USB mode. The display will show "USB".
  3. The unit will automatically begin playing compatible audio files (MP3, WMA) from the USB drive.
  4. Use the PLAY/PAUSE and PREVIOUS/NEXT buttons to control playback.
  5. Adjust the volume using the VOLUME knob.

5.5 AUX Input

  1. Connect an external audio device (e.g., MP3 player, smartphone) to the AUX input jack using a 3.5mm audio cable (not included).
  2. Press the MODE button to select AUX mode. The display will show "AUX".
  3. Play audio from your connected device.
  4. Adjust the volume using the VOLUME knob on the boombox and/or your connected device.

5.6 Headphone Jack

For private listening, plug standard 3.5mm headphones into the headphone jack located on the side of the unit. The internal speakers will automatically mute when headphones are connected.

5.7 EQ Modes

Press the EQ button repeatedly to cycle through the available sound equalization modes: FLAT, CLASSICAL, JAZZ, ROCK, and POP. Select the mode that best suits your audio content.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the unit. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • CD Lens Care: If CD playback issues occur, use a commercially available CD lens cleaner disc to clean the laser lens.
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, disconnect the AC adapter and remove batteries. Store the unit in a cool, dry place.

7. Troubleshooting
